Job Description

We are looking for a Production Engineer to join the GM IT APS Referential team, a global organization responsible for technical support and project delivery across Referential applications.

The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for ensuring the availability, stability, and performance of critical production applications. This role combines technical support, incident management, automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives across a diverse technology landscape.

As part of a global support organization, the Production Engineer will collaborate closely with Development, Infrastructure, and Business teams to resolve incidents efficiently and maintain service excellence. The role also includes participation in an on-call rotation and support coverage outside standard business hours within a Follow-The-Sun support model.

 

Key Responsibilities

Production Support & Monitoring

  • Proactively monitor production environments to ensure optimal availability, stability, and performance.
  • Manage and support all layers of the application stack, including presentation, application, middleware, and database components.
  • Participate in incident management activities and drive timely resolution of production issues.
  • Provide escalation support within the global Follow-The-Sun support model.
  • Perform root cause analysis and contribute to long-term solutions for recurring issues.

Capacity & Performance Management

  • Monitor and manage application capacity to ensure business requirements are met.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimization initiatives.
  • Provide recommendations to management regarding capacity planning and performance improvements.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and enhance automation solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Customize and maintain production tools related to monitoring, scheduling, deployment, backup management, and system administration.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes and support practices.

Collaboration & Project Support

  • Work closely with Development, Infrastructure, and Business teams to deliver reliable production services.
  • Support application releases, deployments, and change management activities.
  • Participate in projects impacting production environments and ensure operational readiness.

Qualifications

Infrastructure & Application Support

  • Strong experience supporting enterprise applications in production environments.
  • Solid knowledge of Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Experience with technologies such as:
    • IIS
    • .NET
    • WCF
    • WebLogic Application Server
    • Apache
    • Tomcat
    • Java EE
    • Nginx

Monitoring & Scheduling Tools

  • Experience with monitoring and observability solutions such as:
    • Geneos
    • Dynatrace
    • Grafana
    • Prometheus
  • Experience with scheduling tools such as Dollar Universe or equivalent solutions.

Automation & Scripting

  • Strong scripting skills using technologies such as:
    • Python
    • Shell Scripting
    • SQL
  • Experience with infrastructure and operational automation tools including:
    • Ansible
    • Terraform

Database Technologies

  • Good knowledge of relational databases, particularly:
    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • Oracle Database

IT Service Management

  • Understanding of production support processes including:
    • Incident Management
    • Problem Management
    • Change Management
    • Release Management
  • Knowledge of ITIL best practices.

Language Requirements

  • English – Professional Working Proficiency (mandatory).
