Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
Gather and understand requirements, analyze current systems and environments, assist with functional application design and develop technical requirements and specifications. The position will be a liaison to business customers for requirements gathering and will ensure their needs are clearly understood and translated into software functional requirements. This role also involves the QA testing of business applications, including custom software, custom reports, and internally developed software and web site applications for functionality, accuracy and adherence to specifications by performing manual, automated and regression testing.
Essential Job Functions:
- Create and maintain software requirements documentation to capture new product functionality or enhance current functionality.
-Work with different business groups to gain an understanding of the business and technical functions and translate that knowledge using the appropriate documentation (a requirements specification, user manuals, and other documentation as needed)
- Develop and implement records management program for filing, protection, and retrieval of records, and assure compliance with program.
- Perform Quality Assurance testing on new/current functionality in order to ensure software specification requirements are met.
- Create or maintain databases of known test defects.
Qualifications
• Must be a critical thinker, have an eye for detail, and natural problem solving (and finding) ability
• Must possess a strong grasp of web-based applications, relational databases and must be able to write and execute SQL queries for testing and troubleshooting
• Must be capable of learning new technology in a fast paced environment
• Exceptional communicator, able to quickly read and write technical specifications and documentation, as well as hold telephone conferences with business groups
• Ability to think-on-your-feet, adapt as situations change and make the best possible decisions with the information at-hand.
• Ability to juggle numerous tasks simultaneously to meet project deadlines with little supervision in a demanding environment.
• Familiarity with main types of software development life cycles
• Must work well in a team-based environment
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education : Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university) in a related technical area or equivalent work experience.
Experience : Junior or entry level candidates with one to two years BA/QA skills are encouraged to apply.
Computer Skills :
- Must have knowledge of technical documentation processes - including writing, editing, and GUI design
- Expertise with MS Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Knowledge of testing software or experience in SmartBear testing software is extremely useful
- General working knowledge of Oracle, SQL, HTML and Java Script is very beneficial
- The ability to learn and summarize complex concepts and issues
