Job Description

Your role as a Maintenance Mechanic is one of collaboration, innovation, inspiration, support, and coaching, and in doing so, you help to create and sustain a high-performing culture. To perform skilled and general maintenance work, including both following and devising preventative maintenance strategies, and effect emergency repairs on machinery and facility systems with an eye towards managing overall operating costs efficiently.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Functional
- Follow safety standards, correct safety hazards where possible, and notify management of any potential risks.
- Know and follow all pertinent Indigo DC operations policies and practices.
- As part of the Indigo Maintenance team, maximize individual and facility-wide productivity by operating primarily in a self-directed manner.
- Perform basic Preventive Maintenance routines as supervised by a Maintenance Technician or Mechanic on automated conveyor systems, including adjustment of feed and drive belts, lubrication and inspection of key points as outlined in the service literature; identification and rectification of early wear and tear symptoms in a planned, proactive, well communicated and documented manner.
- Direct issues/concerns to the appropriate individual(s) in a reasonable time frame when required.
- Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and tools, ensuring availability and proper condition for use.
- Report to the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager regarding ongoing tasks, safety concerns, and maintenance needs.
- Inspect various external and internal building/general facility operational points to identify facility deficiencies such as worn doors/locks, snow removal/salting, general tidiness, minor plumbing/electrical issues, painting/plastering, etc., and reporting to management for further direction.
- Actively participating in the annual self- review process (MyContributions), outlining strengths and focusing on areas of opportunity.

SCOPE
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
- Receives task assignment, coaching and training from: Maintenance Management, Maintenance Mechanic or Maintenance Technician.
- Interfaces and builds relationships with other Team Members, both in Maintenance and other departments.
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment and facilities are in optimal working condition. This includes changing light bulbs, checking HVAC systems, Plumbing, checking MHEs/Battery changes, and conducting minor repairs
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment, which is crucial for preventing accidents and ensuring efficient workflow. This includes cleaning work areas and properly storing tools and materials

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Work Experience / Education / Certifications
Technical Skills
Technical Skills
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems; ability to read technical manuals and drawings
- Proficient in maintenance work order systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders, preventative maintenance, and repairs
- Good physical condition, strength for lifting and carrying equipment, and ability to work in various settings, including heights and confined spaces
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a distribution or mechanical environment an asset
- Experience in maintenance, construction, or related fields is advantageous
- Previous experience in a mechanical role.
Education
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred
