Job Description

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

As the Coordinator, Public Relations, you will be responsible for supporting the Public Relations team in all aspects of day-to-day operations, as well focusing on media and blogger relations, product placement and pulls, tracking and analysis.

  • Ongoing development and maintenance of Indigo public relations media database
  • Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with media teams keeping Indigo Books & Music Inc. top of mind for product placement and story opportunities
  • Development of targeted, compelling and succinct pitches, fact sheets and monthly event rounds ups
  • Timely and accurate responses to media requests, including product placement, fact checks, store pulls, image and sample requests
  • Lead and execute blogger relations from concept to completion
  • Coordinate media outreach including sample receipt and distribution for product placement
  • Accurate and timely management of media samples budget
  • Timely accumulation and distribution of media coverage and coverage summaries for relevant stakeholders- develop the PR Daily overview
  • Media monitoring and analytics – maintain thorough records and summaries of media coverage providing weekly, quarterly and annual updates
  • Facilitate information gathering, review and approval with relevant stakeholders to leverage opportunities for PR purposes
  • Proofread media material for content, style, grammar and accuracy
  • Assist with media preview production as needed
  • Stay current in functional expertise
  • As applicable set and adhere to departmental budgets
  • Support events through regional outreach, and supporting larger Toronto and national events
  • Facilitate media and blogger mailers
  • Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all decision-making and design processes
  • Proactively identify and anticipate customer expectations and needs
  • Embrace and seek out technology that creates high tech and high touch solutions for Indigo’s customers

Qualifications

WHO YOU ARE: 

  • University or Post-Secondary Degree, preferably in Marketing, Communications or Public Relations
  • 1-2 years work experience, preferably in related field
  • Demonstrated interest in public relations
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent command of English, specifically grammar
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrative skills in multi-tasking and grace under pressure
  • Strong computer skills, specifically with Word, Excel and PowerPoint software
  • Experience with media monitoring platforms an asset
  • Passion for retail marketing and customer communication
  • Written and verbal French communications skills, though not required, are an asset
  • Team player and personable
  • Energetic and enthusiastic attitude

  • Personal integrity in terms of accountability and ownership
