Job Description

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

The Director, Internal Audit will serve as the lead evaluator of the Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (“ICFR”) for Indigo Books & Music Inc. and any related joint ventures. This position is responsible for planning, assessing and evaluating ICFR to ensure compliance with Bill 198 and NI52-109, as well as summarizing and reporting of quarterly results to senior management and the Audit Committee, as well as recommending opportunities for internal control improvement.

• Support Indigo goals by executing on short to mid-term departmental goals (1 year)
• Maintain a high level of strategic foresight by identifying customer and business needs, and adjusting departmental and team objectives accordingly
• Design, direct and oversee detailed annual risk assessment and development of efficient annual audit programs
• Direct and oversee the completion of quarterly evaluation on design of ICFR and Disclosure Controls & Procedures (“DC&P”) and annual evaluation of operational effectiveness of ICFR and DC&P
• Create an ERM framework tailored for Indigo’s risks, with risk definitions and prioritization
• Create and issue ERM reports on a timely basis, with practical action plans created collaboratively with business owners
• Timely reporting of audit findings and development of actionable recommendations
• Facilitate risk workshops with Indigo Executives and Senior Management to identify, rank and develop action plans for high priority risk
• Monitor implementation status and changes to high priority action plans
• Liaise with external auditors to provide adequate, complete test working papers
• Provide annual ICFR training to key process and control owners to create controls awareness and highlight internal value add
• Provide recommendations to the organization by performing operational / financial risk assessments on projects and conducting special operational audits, at the request of Executive Management
• Ensure the execution of team deliverables and adapt team priorities based on changing needs
• Set/adhere to team budgets, as applicable
• Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all design and decision-making processes

Qualifications

WHO YOU ARE: 

• CA required and auditing designation (CIA / CISA) or MBA an asset
• Minimum of 7 years of internal/external audit experience leading SOX / Bill198 project
• Retail, Resolver audit management system and/or SAP experience considered an asset
• Experience in IT Systems Audit and managing change in complex environments
• Solid understanding with COSO framework and Bill 198 / NI52-109 regulations
• Strong technical knowledge in IFRS
