Job Description

The salary range for this role is $49,000-$52,000. This job posting is for 2 open program coordinator positions on the team.

This is a mobile role, averaging 1 day/week in either our Indianapolis or Bloomington, Indiana offices.

The IU Foundation is seeking a Program Coordinator to join the Affinity Giving team in support of the department’s mission, fostering allyship and identity-based philanthropy across Indiana University. We’re looking for someone who is an adept and solution-oriented problem-solver, driven to push through challenges, and is a proactive contributor, good listener, empathetic, and curious. A candidate with the adaptability and enthusiasm to exercise a variety of skillsets in this role will surely stand out.

In this role, you’ll coordinate communication and programming functions related to Black Philanthropy Circle (BPC), Parent & Family Giving, Latino Philanthropy Circle (LPC), Queer Philanthropy Circle (QPC), and Women’s Philanthropy - inclusive of the Women’s Philanthropy Leadership Council (WPLC).

You’ll serve as a key resource for departmental event planning, internal and external stakeholder communications, and craft and implement marketing efforts on behalf of the lead development staff for our various departmental giving programs. The Affinity Giving Circles award approximately $500k/yr. in grants across the University system, and you’ll serve as a key contact for grant applicants, educating and guiding them on application process, expectations, and deadlines. This is not a front-line fundraising role, but there are ample opportunities to communicate with donors and volunteers via email, calls, and face to face, helping to build lasting relationships on behalf of Affinity Giving and the broader IUF.

Qualifications

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience strongly preferred
  • Experience prioritizing competing demands in a fast-paced environment supporting senior leadership strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of identity-based donor communities and respective giving motivations preferred
  • Combination of education/career experience will be considered

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Skilled in marketing content creation, preparation, and dissemination across social media, newsletters, email, paper copy, and other materials/channels
  • Customer-Service/Client Relationship-oriented: we support a wide variety of colleagues, volunteers, donors, and other members of the public. Interpersonal skills and discretion in demeanor is key!
  • Event Planning: ability to community with internal and external stakeholders to keep plans moving forward
  • Process-Oriented: maintain easy, accessible, and organized document flow
  • Must be able to exercise excellent judgement in the handling of confidential information
  • Commitment to producing high-quality and professional work that is timely, accurate and attentive to details
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to create appropriate content for unique target audiences
  • Strong problem-solving, organization and project management skills
  • Ability to navigate complex situations with a solution-oriented focus, poise, and confidence
