Job Description

The annual salary range for this role is $45,000.00-$50,000.00 and is commensurate with experience.

This role is based out of our Bloomington, IN location and is on-site 5 days per week.

The Facilities Department at the Indiana University Foundation (IUF) is seeking a reliable, proactive, and adaptable professional to join our team as a Grounds Maintenance Technician. Reporting to the Director of Facilities, this role is essential in maintaining the high standard of care and functionality for IUF’s properties, including Showalter, Wilcox, and the Bill Armstrong Stadium track. As a member of our team, you’ll handle a variety of groundskeeping and facility maintenance tasks. From maintaining landscaping and irrigation systems to assisting with minor facility repairs, your work will help ensure our spaces reflect the quality and prestige of Indiana University. This position requires independence, attention to detail, and the flexibility to respond to seasonal needs, such as snow removal.

In this role, you will oversee lawn care, landscaping, and maintenance of facilities’ equipment, while also assisting with special events. You’ll have the unique opportunity to contribute ideas for improving grounds and will be empowered to manage your daily tasks, including pulling work orders, ordering necessary supplies, and completing reports.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

    • Proficiency in lawn care and landscaping, including mowing, edging, pruning, planting, and applying fertilizers and pesticides as needed.
    • Ability to safely operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment and tools, with experience in irrigation system maintenance and repair.
    • Familiarity with basic maintenance techniques, pest control practices, and understanding of plant care and growth cycles.
    • Capable of lifting up to 80 pounds and performing strenuous outdoor work under various weather conditions.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
    • Ability to manage work orders, track supply usage, and prioritize tasks efficiently to maintain high standards across all grounds.
    • Comfortable using computers and Microsoft Office programs, with the ability to track, manage, and report on credit card expenses and complete other administrative tasks as needed.

    Experience/Education

    • High School diploma required; vocational or technical training in grounds maintenance, construction, or related trades preferred.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or related fields is required.
      •  Experience in commercial groundskeeping preferred.
    • A valid driver’s license is required.
