Job Description

The salary range for this role is $100,000.00-$120,000.00 and is commensurate with experience. Relocation is available if required.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement based in Bloomington, IN, or Indianapolis, IN.

Are you a dynamic and results-driven fundraising professional with a passion for philanthropy and a knack for building lasting relationships? We invite you to join the planned giving team at the Indiana University Foundation as the Senior Director of Development, Gift Planning. In this pivotal, new role, you will be instrumental in developing and executing a robust and proactive fundraising strategy to increase planned giving at Indiana University through in-person and virtual engagements with a dedicated portfolio of donors.

In this role you will take the lead in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gift planning prospects and donors. You will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, tailoring your approach to meet the unique needs of each donor. This is a highly collaborative position, where you will partner with our gift planning attorneys and fundraisers across all schools, units, and campuses at Indiana University.

We are seeking a dedicated fundraiser who can meet and exceed departmental performance standards, foster a collaborative spirit, and maintain a level of reliability that contributes to the growth of planned giving at IU. Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required
  • A Doctor of Jurisprudence is preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a planned giving officer, frontline development officer, or practicing attorney is strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of income, gift, and estate tax law preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of estate planning techniques preferred
  • Enhanced interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Extensive verbal and writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use current computer technology
