Job Description

Growing company whose hose products are sold in many industries needs a Polymer Chemist/Compounder with a good understanding of materials and mixing methods. Should be familiar with rubber and rubber/synthetic blends used in different hose-making applications.

This job is in western Tennessee. Relocation assistance is available. Please apply if you are considering relocation to western Tennessee. Visa support is not available.

  • Maintain product, process, and material knowledge through coordination of sample builds, engineering analysis, and testing.
  • Makes decisions about the design of materials and formulas and how to meet the design and testing timeline.
  • Will develop hose assemblies which meet performance specifications.
  • Will work in design, sample builds, and testing.
  • Work on specification of capital equipment needed to make products.
  • Will coordinate with sales, manufacturing, customers, and suppliers to ensure processes meet quality objectives according to TS 16949, ISO 14001, and QS 9000 requirements.
  • Investigate customer issues and provide technical service at the engineering level.
  • Work on continuous improvement projects to lower costs, improve manufacturing throughput, improve quality, increase customer satisfaction.

 

 

Qualifications

  • BS in Chemistry or Engineering.
  • 2+ years’ experience with rubber mixing or working with synthetic materials used in hose assemblies. Will consider non-degreed individuals with extensive experience in rubber compounding.
  • Should have experience working with hose products, or with similar products.
  • Must have a background in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and quality standards.
