Job Description

Leader in the application of high-performance surface coatings for aerospace turbine components needs a hands-on coating engineer. The company needs someone with in-depth knowledge of the thermal spray application process, either in coating of new parts, or coating parts that need maintenance or repair. The company is considering materials, manufacturing, or mechanical, engineers who have worked with thermal spray coatings, using both manual spray guns and robotic methods. This is a manufacturing engineering position, or process engineering position, where you work on the development of processes for the application of plasma coatings.

 

·       You will lead technical teams and coordinate engineering activities for design, development, and implementation of new Plasma coating processes.

·       Responsible for all aspects of plasma and HVOF coating engineering including coating process design, tooling design, process development, qualification, and process documentation.

·       Support of coating operations including component pre-process cleaning, surface preparation, inspection, and characterization.

·       Oversee thermal spray coating work i.e., HVOF, Plasma Spray, Flame Spray. Will also oversee grit blasting, masking and programming of thermal spray robotic equipment. May also do some grinding and machining.

·       Work with quality management to create and facilitate ISO and/or NADCAP processes and accreditation

Qualifications

·       Masters or PhD degree preferred, Bachelor’s Degree required in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or similar discipline.

 

·       Minimum five years of hands-on experience with Thermal Spray Processes such as HVOF and Plasma in a coating shop that applies thermal spray coatings for turbine engine component coating and repair.

 

·       Should have experience establishing process parameters, developing tools and fixtures, and industrializing new coating applications.

 

·       Familiarity with robot programming for thermal spray applications is expected.

 

Relocation assistance is available. This is an ITAR regulated facility, which requires that you must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
