Summary:
Vulcan is seeking a Production Supervisor for our Ranges (Stove) product line. The successful applicant will oversee assembly team’s daily work assignments, production quality, while driving continuous improvement and safety excellence through coaching of technical, behavioral, and housekeeping competencies to enable Vulcan to deliver high quality Range (stove) products.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Manage and motivate factory team to achieve production targets and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
- Work a schedule that aligns with production and may start as early as 5:30am.
- Ensure required daily, weekly, monthly reporting and work plans are prepared to avoid delays.
- Promote a positive work environment by applying company policies consistently and in a fair manner, and by addressing employee concerns in a confidential manner.
- Ensure employees (supervised personnel) receive cross training for multiple special skills and positions.
- Maintain production floor and related areas by using 5S principles and housekeeping rigor.
- Monitor and review work performance, attendance, and quality of work of employees and take corrective actions in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Maintain and approve timesheets of direct reports and temporary employees.
- Prepare and deliver employee performance appraisals and development plans.
- Promote safety culture by engaging self and employees in reporting safety hazards and by suggesting and implementing preventive and corrective measures.
- Analyze and resolve work problems and/or assist workers in solving work problems.
- Perform product inspections, quality checks. and audits.
- Effectively communicate with peers, associates, and leadership with the goal of making the most efficient use of personnel and equipment, including department maintenance needs.
- Provide support coverage to other Operations team positions when requested by manager.
- Maintain focus on continuous improvement by applying 80/20, PLS, and USa principles/techniques and makes process improvement recommendations to management.
- Support part run offs including set up and testing, providing feedback to engineering for design opportunities.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
Associate or bachelor degree, in Manufacturing or Quality Engineering, Industrial management, Business, or any other engineering/technical area, is preferred.
Experience/Skills
- Minimum 1 year managerial experience, with preference for manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of Safety procedures, PPE standards, and driving a safe work culture.
- Understand or have experience with product assembly operations.
- Carry a professional demeanor, work well with anybody, with a skill for conflict resolution.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and cooperation and lead by example.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, Outlook, and ERPs systems.
- Ability to execute a plan/objectives and thrive in fast paced work environment.
- Bilingual with Spanish fluency, is not required, but ideal.
Additional Information
- Manage shift that starts at 5:30am, if needed /6:00am Mon-Fri, and requires occasional Saturday work
- Perform activities including bending, stooping, standing, walking.
- Understand concepts of gas and electrical test stations.
- Stand and walk from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day.
- Operate common office equipment (e.g., PC, phone, copier, printer).
- Use various measuring instruments (e.g., tape measure)
- This position is 100% in-office.
- Requires multiple trips to manufacturing plant floor daily.
- Requires use of PPE (steel toes, gloves, safety glasses) daily.
- Week/weekend overtime as necessary
