Summary

As a Testing- Engineering Lab Technician within our testing team, you will independently lead and develop test methods, test procedures, test plans, test timelines, support electro-mechanical designs, fixtures, conduct the tests, complete test data, and reporting documentation to support the verification, validation and reliability testing of Food Machines products for NPD (New Product Development), CEP (Customer Engineered Product), and Sustaining (Currently Released Product). You will be provided with extensive training but will be given high level direction, while executing independently to achieve established goals, objectives, and test timelines to meet our ITW/Hobart Food Machines growth plans and initiatives.

What You Will Do

  • Empowered to support co-workers, engineers, and managers to solve complex opportunities and technical challenges by utilizing problem solving tools, experience, expertise, and skills to support our world class customer product quality. This will be supported by the use and involvement within our QMS (Quality Management System) prints/drawings, schematics, schedules, work instructions, procedures, specifications, capacities, designs, analysis systems, tracking & reporting tools.
  • Utilizing your skills & knowledge you will be challenged to prepare clear and complete data analysis and documentation for review and use by Engineering. Sourcing, Manufacturing, and others while conforming to accepted standards and practices.
  • Coordinates work with appropriate personnel including marketing managers, engineers, technicians, vendors, and manufacturing employees to ensure that the solutions developed meets the needs of the respective project.
  • Provide leadership to department peers in conformance to standard operating practices and procedures.  Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title. 
  • Create custom test fixtures and evaluation equipment for in and out of house use to support the reliability testing.
  • Uses project planning tools to create schedules for individual projects, understanding of UL standards that apply to FM products.

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For

  • High School or Vocational Trade School, Certification in relevant fields, Associate’s degree-preferred
  • 3+ years- (Technician-Service-Project Supervision-Electro-Mechanical-Project Lead), Testing Background, Food Machine Equipment or Service Background is a plus
  • Self-Starter/Self-Motivated
  • Technical Writing Skills- (Reports, Procedures, Plans, Work Instructions)
  • Excellent Communicator- (All Functions, Levels & Titles)
  • Presentation Skills- (In-Person, Teams, Zoom, PowerPoint)
  • Project Management- (Planning, Time Management, and Scheduling Skills)
  • Organizational Skills- (Housekeeping-Layout-Flow-6S)
  • Proficient in MS Office Tools- (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Problem Solving- (8D-Fishbone-5 Why- Poka-Yoke)
  • Electro-Mechanical Aptitude- (Troubleshooting-Building Testing Fixtures)
  • Experience with Electrical & Mechanical Prints/Drawings/Schematics
  • Use of equipment- (Calipers, Micrometers, Bandsaw, Chop Saw, Drill Press)
  • These are a plus – basic PLC programming and software test experience

Additional Information

  • You will work in a team-oriented office and laboratory environment.
  • Some travel may be required, less than 5%
  • PPE required: Steel toe shoes and eye protection in manufacturing setting.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, or stoop and use hands, arms and walk frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
