Located in Lancaster, NY. The Production Manager will manage, direct, and coordinates the activities of manufacturing personnel, this includes planning, assigning and directing work, addressing and resolving problems and complaints, training and motivating, and providing feedback to employees.  Working to increase productivity and profitability for Manufacturing Operations.  Manages building maintenance and skilled resources for production maintenance in other areas.

Salary Range: $105,000.00 - $125,000.00

Job Description

  1. Schedules Production as orders are received based on Customer Agreements, standard lead times and due date requests.  Manages priorities in scheduling and adjusts as required.
  2. Directs and coordinates the activities of manufacturing personnel to ensure effective and efficient production.  Works with staff to develop process improvements, documenting processes and maintaining work instruction.
  3. Staff, trains, evaluates, coaches, and guides employees.  Enforcing policies/procedures, and counseling when necessary.  Cross trains employees. 
  4. Recommend and drive improvements that reduce waste and costs and improve yields and efficiencies.
  5. Supports Equipment run offs including Set up and testing, providing feedback to engineering for design or programming opportunities, Documenting changes on appropriate forms, and on-site installations and support.
  6. Help in investigating root cause failures and recommend solutions.
  7. Support the team in resolving technical issues for all product lines for operations, sales, and service by reviewing and coordinating resources needed.
  8. Manages the maintenance and operation of production equipment.  Makes recommendations for service and or replacement.
  9. Maintain quality procedure accuracy by doing regular audits and provide feedback when procedures are not correct.
  10. Recommend capital equipment purchases, develop capital project requests, implement on-time and on-budget.
  11. Responsible for safe actions of personnel and safe work environment of area.  Ensures compliance with state and federal laws.All other duties as assigned
  12. Maintains focus on continuous improvement by applying 80/20, PLS, and USa principles/techniques and makes process improvement recommendations to management.

Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related field required.

Experience/Skills: 

  1. Minimum 5 years management experience; preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  2. Highly motivated and results oriented.
  3. Highly knowledgeable of manufacturing processes and stays current in assembly/manufacturing technology.
  4. Strong knowledge of EHS requirements – drives ongoing improvements in local safety standards/performance.
  5. Strong project management skills and possesses the ability to multi-task
  6. Strong interpersonal skills
  7. Ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills.

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will constantly (67% - 100%) be required to twist/turn, stand, walk, and grasp, and frequently (34% - 66%) be required to bend/squat, crawl, handle and manipulate small items. They will occasionally (1% - 33%) be required to climb, reach above shoulder, reach outward, sit, and type.
  2. The employee must carry up to 10 pounds constantly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and use safe lifting methods to move100 pounds occasionally. The employee must push and pull up to 10 pounds constantly, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include concentrated attention, close vision, far vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to bring objects into sharp focus. 
  4. Manual dexterity; arm-hand steadiness; ability to quickly make precise adjustments in moving the controls of a machine; finger dexterity; multi-limb coordination; flexibility; quick reaction time.
