Division Description:

ITW Air Flow Management is a producer of interior automotive components such as Pressure Relief Valves and Air Registers, with approximate revenues of $90M. Air Flow Management delivers differentiated value to the North American Automotive OEM’s addressing industry trends of autonomous driving, display integration, and customized environments. Business units include Westminster, MA and Reynosa, MX as well as a Sales & Engineering office in the Detroit area. The division has approximately 490 employees in North America.

Role Summary:

Lead the development of product concepts including, but not limited to, preparation of conceptual models via customer 3D CAD software, bench testing, facilitate and understand FEA simulation results, generate bill of material information, and facilitate design for manufacturing efforts for the manufacturing facility.  This role has a high degree of focus on resolving customer pain points with innovative solutions leading to intellectual property developments on behalf of ITW AirFlow Management.  Utilizing an innovative mindset, actively participate in the generation and implementation of VA/VE ideas/projects.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities 

•Lead innovation forums with global colleagues to ensure we are utilizing all ITW expertise to deliver on CBI/innovation/value based selling as identified in AFM NA Strategic Intent Statement

•Lead bench testing efforts internal to ITW, interpret results, write reports and present to internal and external audiences as needed

•Function as conduit to external CAD resources as needed

•Contribute to customer intimacy development by maintaining contact with customer equivalent roles

•Conduct competitor / customer benchmarking activity by conducting virtual (A2Mac1) or real benchmarking / teardown exercises, attending seminars, industry events and engineering forums

•Maintain and contribute to overall ITW understanding on base material cost/function advantages and disadvantages globally

•Actively participate in the intellectual property discussions on an as needed basis

•Prepare DFMEA documents as a part of the product development/launch sequence

Qualifications

•5 years in Product Design

•2 years as a “lead” or Senior Engineer

•OEM Customer interaction

•Bachelors degree

•CAD Experience a plus (not required)

Additional Information

Accountable:

•To deliver innovative, market attractive concepts aligned with the NA AFM Strategic Intent Statement. 

•Testing procedures and output reports which are in full compliance with IATF 16949 standards

•Creation of DFMEA

•Data transfer as needed from ITW software package through customer portal and into their system for up level virtual assembly builds

•Creation, monitoring and update of lessons learned database for future benefit

•Delivering all above according to ITW global policies & procedures

•Actively drive design for manufacturing working sessions to ensure the designs for tomorrow are able to be manufactured at the highest level of efficiency
