This position is based in Elgin, Illinois with regular travel to the Elk Grove Village, Illinois plant. Ability to travel locally to other division plants on an as-needed basis is required.

Job Description

  • Serves as a partner to HR and business stakeholders and provides technical and analytical expertise in various aspects of the Human Resources function.
  • Supports the ITW performance management cycle, advising and coaching in areas of goal setting, mid-year feedback activities, annual performance review and the compensation planning process, particularly for our talented hourly workforce.
  • Works with Division stakeholders to support staffing activities including selection, compensation management, and ongoing process improvement.  Creatively and aggressively leads recruitment efforts from job scoping activity through the offer phase. 
  • Provides guidance and support on day to day general employee relations issues and special HR projects.
  • Inputs and maintains employee data in the HRIS system such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for reporting.  Prepares regular and special reports using HRIS.
  • Prepares compelling employee communications that reinforce ITW’s culture and values.  
  • Works with ITW Corporate Human Resources or third-party providers, as necessary, in management of employee life cycle processes and transactions.
  • Stays up to date on legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resources functions and ensures compliance in policies, procedures, and reporting.  Active role in development of the Division Affirmative Action Plan. Ensures compliance with required legal postings on bulletin boards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Human Resources, Business or Psychology.
  • Preferably 2-3 years of HR Generalist experience.
  • Bilingual (English/ Spanish) preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in HR programs and practices.
  • Ability to make independent decisions. 
  • Excellent relationship building and communication skills.
  • Problem solver and learner – willing to challenge the status quo to drive positive change in their areas of responsibility and across the Division.
  • Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information.
  • Ability to travel locally on an as needed basis.
