Job Description

As a member of Software Engineering R&D team, you will work in an Agile team environment to develop Window’s desktop applications for Instron’s world leading material testing systems.  Our software includes instrument control for ethernet and serial devices, data analysis, reporting, image analysis, database support, and robotics automation.  Our team covers the full software life cycle from new product development, custom solutions, and software maintenance.

Requirements

Successful candidates will have a BS or MS degree in computer science, engineering, or mathematics. 3-5 years of software engineering experience, in combination with the following traits, skills and experience:

Successful candidates will have a BS or MS degree in computer science, engineering, or mathematics.  3-5 years of software engineering experience, in combination with the following traits, skills and experience:

  • Developing Windows desktop or server applications.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to present a software design and work effectively and cooperatively with an engineering team.
  • Willingness to travel domestically or globally 1 to 2 times per year.

Qualifications

  • C#, C++ developing Windows multithreaded desktop applications with a solid grasp of algorithms, data structures, design patterns, serialization, and object-oriented programming.
  • WPF UI development with an understanding of XAML, the MVVM design pattern, and dependency injection.
  • SQL database experience using Entity Framework or stored procedures.  Oracle experience is a plus.
  • Strong familiarity with software development practices including: Use cases, test cases, UML documentation, and unit testing.
