Job Description

As a Customs and Logistics Coordinator at Trading Partner Limited, you'll be responsible for preparing customs documentation and ensuring that shipments meet all applicable laws to facilitate the import and export of goods. The successful candidate will also be able to oversee and facilitate the supply chain operations of our company. The goal is to coordinate personnel and processes to achieve seamless customs clearance and effective distribution of our goods all over the country.

To succeed in this role, you must be an individual who is detail-oriented and can multitask and manage all import and export functions from pre-shipping to shipping and consignment delivery. You'll need an in-depth knowledge of customs clearing and forwarding processes and the ability to deliver effectively under pressure and with a tight budget.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and processing import and export documentation (including taxes, duties, and all applicable charges) according to customs regulations, laws, or procedures.
  • Liaising with an accredited clearing agent for the clearing of goods at destination Apapa, Tin can island, and the airport as the case may be.
  • Analysing customs duty exemptions and free trade agreements where necessary to reduce the cost of imports and exports.
  • Liaising with port authorities & customs officials, monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining requisite papers & documents.
  • Renewal of relevant licenses for all imported and listed items and should be conversant with the procedures.
  • Managing and developing import SOPs and corporate compliance policies, conducting internal regulatory audits and training; assisting in the maintenance of record-keeping procedures.
  • Coordinating, monitoring, and optimizing supply chain operations using logistics software
  • Communicating with suppliers, retailers, customers etc., to land profitable deals and achieve mutual satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of first degree in any related field. A Master's degree will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of cognate experience in a clearing & forwarding role in Nigeria (preferably Lagos)
  • Must have extensive operational knowledge of the Nigerian import industry, ports, and relevant government agencies.
  • Experience with logistics software (ERP)
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of import laws, regulations, and ISO requirements
  • Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes
  • Computer-savvy with a working knowledge of logistics software (ERP)
  • High level of integrity
  • Exceptional time management, planning, and organizational skills.
