Job Description
ISN is seeking a Mid-Level Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This role will involve a variety of accounting duties. We are looking for an energetic, self-starting, organized, detail-oriented individual who can multitask in a fast-paced environment.
This position offers high visibility within the company as it directly interacts with senior management.
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that financial and accounting activities are properly managed in compliance with government contracting procedures. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, processing semi-monthly payments to independent contractors and related entries, reviewing payroll for accuracy, managing intercompany due-to/from accounts, contract administration, and preparing month-end journal entries. The Senior Accountant will also manage monthly billings in CostPoint and submit them to customers, maintain account reconciliations, and conduct financial analysis as needed. This position reports to the Controller.
Qualifications
- Manage and process monthly billings, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to customers for assigned projects.
- Set up new contracts and update projects in Deltek Costpoint as necessary.
- Reconcile and manage intercompany due-to/from accounts for accurate financial reporting.
- Collaborate with Contracts and Programs teams on new contracts and billing-related matters.
- Maintain the budget in the Costpoint budget module and update as required.
- Process and submit semi-monthly and bi-weekly payments to independent contractors through our payroll vendor’s site.
- Review payroll and serve as backup payroll processor, including importing timesheets from Deltek to Costpoint. Prepare and adjust payroll entries.
- Maintain monthly balance sheet accounts reconciliations.
- Build and maintain annual budget.
- Serve as a backup for setting up new hires in Costpoint, granting access to projects, and import information into Deltek.
- Review independent contractor setups in Paychex to ensure accuracy.
- Distribute monthly financials to the executive team and Program managers.
- Responsible for reviewing tax notices and taking appropriate action as needed.
- Perform other accounting and financial duties as required.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Minimum of 3 years recent Experience with Deltek Costpoint 8.0. or similar.
- Hands-on experience processing billings in Costpoint.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and resourcefulness.
- Advanced Excel Skills.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Solid understanding of accounting processes and procedures and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the government contracting field (preferred, but not required)
- Experience processing payroll is helpful
- Active security clearance or eligibility for clearance is a plus.
