Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer to join our global team.  This role will play a major part in the delivery of our Group Data Strategy and Data Transformation Journey by delivering, enhancing, and maintaining our IQEQ Data Platform which will drive how our data is managed and used to deliver outcomes in a host of key areas to maximise business value and growth delivering improvements for internal and external stakeholders and clients.

This role will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture.  The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who will support our software developers, database architects, data analysts and data scientists on data initiatives to navigate and leverage our significant data assets to build the optimal production models.  You will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects and you must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products.

  • You’ll design, create, and maintain optimal data pipeline architectures, managing datasets within data catalogues and assembling data that meets both functional and non‑functional business requirements.
  • You’ll develop and optimise data flows connecting operational systems with analytics and BI platforms, writing and maintaining high‑quality ETL scripts and documenting source‑to‑target mappings.
  • You’ll drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements, automating manual tasks, optimising data delivery, and redesigning infrastructure for scalability and performance.
  • You’ll collaborate closely with Executive, Product, Data, and Design stakeholders, providing effective data infrastructure support and communicating clearly by adapting your style to different audiences.
  • You’ll demonstrate strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail, participating in open and constructive debate, taking ownership of challenges, building strong relationships across cultures, and continuously learning to stay current with technological developments.

Qualifications

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and have 4+ years of experience in software engineering, ideally within the financial services industry.
  • You demonstrate strong technical expertise in Linux fundamentals, Bash scripting, algorithms and data structures, and programming languages such as Python, Go, Scala, C++, or Kotlin, with hands-on experience using Python libraries including Pandas, NumPy, PySpark, and Dask.
  • You have solid experience with databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), data lakes and warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift), stream processing technologies (Kafka, Kinesis), and data warehousing and API implementations.
  • You bring exposure to basic Node.js and JavaScript, work effectively in complex, multi-country financial services or BPO environments, and understand global program management and ISO 27001 information security compliance.
  • You communicate fluently in written and spoken English, collaborate successfully across multicultural teams, demonstrate strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, lead and mentor others when required, and operate with integrity, drive, and a results-oriented mindset (additional European languages are an asset).
