Job Description
What you'll do
We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to take ownership of administering, maintaining, and improving our established Azure cloud environment. This role focuses on day-to-day operational excellence, proactive environment management, and ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of existing Azure resources. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in Azure administration, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and optimise cloud operations through automation and best practices.
The working hours for this role will be based on EMEA time zone.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and support an established Azure cloud environment, ensuring ongoing reliability and performance.
- Conduct routine operational tasks such as patching, updates, backups, and resource health checks.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues across Azure services and hybrid components.
- Assist in improving operational efficiency through automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or Terraform.
- Support cost optimisation, resource hygiene, and governance enforcement.
- Maintain accurate, clear operational documentation including runbooks and support procedures.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and internal teams to support projects and service improvements.
- Participate in on-call or out-of-hours activity when required.
- Create concisely written, high-quality documentation, runbooks, deployment instructions, and design diagrams.
Key Competencies
- Direct experience with core Azure administration tasks (VMs, storage, networking, monitoring, identity).
- Basic understanding of Azure networking (VNETs, NSGs, VPN gateways, load balancers).
- Familiarity with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Azure CLI, or Terraform.
- Understanding of cloud governance, RBAC, and security best practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues across cloud and on-premises integrations.
- Strong problem solving & analysis skills
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Good diligence and growth mindset.

Qualifications
Desirable Qualifications
- AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator (or willingness to obtain).
- AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
- Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD workflows, and Git version control.
- ITIL Foundation certification.
