Job Description
The Linux (Ubuntu) Server Administrator will manage and optimize a global server infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance across development, staging, and production environments. This role supports software engineers, maintains preproduction systems, and collaborates with R&D teams to expand CI/CD pipelines in an Agile, ISO27001-certified setting.
What you’ll do
- You'll install, configure, and maintain Ubuntu Server systems across physical, virtual, and cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- You'll monitor and optimize server performance, implement system tuning, and manage security through user access controls, firewalls, patching, and hardening.
- You'll automate routine tasks using scripting languages such as Bash and Python, and manage backups, disaster recovery, and failover solutions.
- You'll configure and maintain essential services including Apache/Nginx, MySQL/MongoDB, SSH, DNS, FTP, Redis, RabbitMQ, and administer virtualization platforms like KVM and private cloud infrastructure
- You'll troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, maintain accurate documentation, and collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines

- The salary for this position will be dependent on experience and location ($88,000-$110,000).
Qualifications
- You are located in eastern time zone, able to work 8am-5pm ET, and have three plus years of experience as a Linux or System Administrator, with strong proficiency in Ubuntu Server (22.04 or newer) and Linux command-line tools.
- You communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate a process-oriented work style with clear goals and output focus
- You are eager to grow professionally, learning from experienced colleagues and staying updated with best practices in system administration
- You possess hands-on experience with scripting (Bash, Python), system monitoring tools, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs), and version control systems like Git.
- You are familiar with administering services such as Apache, PHP, MySQL, and MongoDB, and hold or are pursuing Linux-related certifications like LPIC or CompTIA Linux+.
