We are currently looking for a Senior Process Engineer to support a major Oil & Gas project, with an initial assignment in Chengdu, China, followed by a relocation to Baku, Azerbaijan.
Job Description
- Lead and coordinate the Process engineering activities within the assigned project scope.
- Ensure the delivery of robust, coherent and traceable Process engineering documentation.
- Ensure that designs are fit for purpose and suitable for procurement, fabrication, transportation, installation, commissioning and safe operation.
- Ensure compliance with the Project Basis of Design, project specifications, applicable standards, contractual requirements and regulations.
- Review and technically approve Process engineering deliverables.
- Ensure the proper realization of the Process design in accordance with project specifications, procedures, schedule, quality and safety requirements.
- Review Process engineering documentation and proactively identify deviations or derogations from applicable standards.
- Challenge engineering solutions to achieve optimized, cost-effective and fit-for-purpose designs.
- Promote standardization and value engineering wherever technically feasible.
Flow Assurance
- Provide strong technical expertise in Flow Assurance.
- Perform and/or review multiphase pipeline dynamic studies.
- Review Flow Assurance deliverables and ensure their consistency with the overall Process design.
- Identify technical risks related to flow assurance and provide appropriate recommendations and mitigation measures.
- Coordinate Flow Assurance interfaces with other engineering disciplines and relevant project stakeholders.
Engineering Coordination & Interfaces
- Work closely with the Process Discipline Lead to coordinate Process engineering interfaces with other disciplines.
- Define, monitor and manage Process interface parameters with other engineering disciplines.
- Coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, vendors, licensors and third-party reviewers.
- Plan, prepare and lead Process discipline meetings with contractors, vendors, package suppliers and third parties.
- Provide timely and clear responses to contractors' and vendors' technical queries.
- Identify and manage Process engineering technical decisions and ensure timely resolution.
- Monitor engineering progress and define corrective actions when required.
- Ensure that technical decisions and actions are properly tracked and closed within the project schedule.
Technical Reviews & Studies
- Review Process engineering documents in accordance with project specifications and contractual requirements.
- Define, follow up and evaluate Process studies performed by contractors and external consultants.
- Participate in technical studies, project reviews and engineering workshops.

- Constructability Reviews
- Model Reviews
- Project Reviews
- Other Process-related technical studies as required
- Provide technical clarifications during project audits, safety studies and technical review sessions.
- Ensure that lessons learned from previous and similar projects are appropriately incorporated into the design.
Contractor & Third-Party Management
- Monitor and coordinate Process engineering activities performed by contractors and third-party providers.
- Review and assess contractor and third-party engineering deliverables.
- Manage Process-related technical queries and requests for clarification.
- Identify potential deviations and derogations and support their technical assessment and approval.
- Coordinate with relevant review panels and technical authorities where required.
- Follow up contractor performance and ensure deliverables are submitted in accordance with project requirements, schedule and quality expectations.
Project Progress & Risk Management
- Monitor Process discipline progress and provide regular status updates.
- Identify potential technical risks and scope changes within the Process discipline.
- Perform technical impact assessments and provide recommendations to the Process Discipline Lead.
- Review and assess Process-related engineering scope changes.
- Ensure changes remain aligned with the approved Basis of Design and project standards.
- Support the project change management process.
- Assist in the assessment of change orders.
- Support Process-related project risk management activities.
Site, Construction & Commissioning Support
- Provide engineering support to site teams during construction and installation.
- Provide technical clarification and support for site queries.
- Support the resolution of technical non-conformities.
- Review and incorporate relevant site feedback and as-built information.
- Support commissioning activities and ensure Process engineering requirements are properly implemented during execution.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree or Master of Science in Process Engineering or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of professional experience in Oil & Gas projects.
- 5+ years of experience in a similar Senior Process Engineering position, preferably with coordination or managerial responsibilities.
- Strong experience in Flow Assurance.
- Proven experience performing or reviewing multiphase pipeline dynamic studies.
- Experience working with EPC/EPSCC contractors, vendors, licensors and third-party engineering consultants.
- Experience in detailed engineering and project execution phases.
