Company Description

An international industrial project operating in a complex and sensitive environment is seeking a Deputy Security Manager – Airspace & UAS to lead and manage all airspace security activities.

The role is responsible for overseeing unmanned aerial system (drone) operations, counter‑drone (C‑UAS) systems, and overall airspace situational awareness to ensure the protection of personnel, assets, and operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining secure and compliant air operations in coordination with local authorities and internal security teams.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Airspace & UAS Operations

  • Ensure full control and security of the project’s airspace, including all UAS (drone) and C‑UAS (counter‑drone) operations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise aerial security missions such as surveillance, reconnaissance, and area assessments.
  • Maintain continuous airspace situational awareness over all critical operational areas.
  • Monitor, detect, analyze, and report any unauthorized aerial activity or airspace violations.

Counter‑Drone & Technology Management

  • Coordinate the deployment and operation of counter‑drone systems (radar, RF detection, EO/IR sensors, jamming solutions, authorized interception methods).
  • Ensure correct installation, functionality, and optimal use of high‑value security systems.
  • Supervise maintenance and operational readiness of drones, batteries, ground stations, sensors, and associated equipment.

Coordination & Authorities Interface

  • Maintain permanent liaison with civil and military aviation authorities regarding airspace usage.
  • Coordinate closely with internal security teams and external service providers involved in aerial security operations.
  • Supervise flight authorizations, no‑fly zones, and secure aerial corridors.

HSE, Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure all airspace and drone operations fully comply with HSE requirements, air safety standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Draft and maintain operational procedures, risk assessments, and airspace security documentation.
  • Deliver daily reports, alerts, and analyses related to aerial threats and system performance.
  • Ensure compliance with human rights and community interaction standards when operating in populated areas.

Leadership & Training

  • Supervise and manage drone and counter‑drone teams, ensuring proper qualification, discipline, and performance.
  • Train internal teams on drone‑related risks, emergency procedures, and airspace security protocols.
  • Propose innovative and practical solutions to enhance airspace security and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain continuous availability to respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in air operations management, UAS, or counter‑drone operations (security, military, police, aviation, or industrial environments).
  • Strong knowledge of drone and counter‑drone technologies (RF, radar, EO/IR, jamming).
  • Solid understanding of airspace regulations and aviation authority requirements.
  • Experience in airspace risk assessment and coordination with security or military forces.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and decision‑making skills.
  • Fluent English required; additional languages are an asset.
  • Strong computer skills (situational awareness tools, mapping, reporting systems).
  • Clean criminal record, valid driver’s license, and passport.

Additional Information

Work Environment

  • On‑site position in a remote, high‑risk environment with tropical climate conditions.
  • Rotational schedule: 4 weeks ON / 4 weeks OFF.
  • Shared camp facilities and restricted movement due to security conditions.
  • 24/7 availability required for emergency situations.
