· This position is for Mozambique LNG project.

· Mozambique LNG is a world-scale greenfield onshore LNG development in Northern Mozambique. The Afungi site hosts two liquefaction trains producing a combined 13 MTPA, along with utilities, condensate and LNG storage, marine export facilities, and large-scale infrastructure. The project encompasses multiple international EPC packages.

 

Job Description

The role ensures the technical integrity of all piping and valve systems from construction through to pre-commissioning and mechanical completion, working in close collaboration with EPC Contractors, QA/QC teams, and commissioning stakeholders.

Technical Support — Engineering to Construction Interface
• Provide day-to-day discipline technical support for all piping and valve matters on site.
• Ensure correct interpretation and application of engineering deliverables: isometrics, valve datasheets, material specifications, piping layouts, and 3D model extracts.
• Process and respond to Contractor Technical Queries (TQ), Deviation Requests (DER), Concession Requests, and site clarifications in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with home-office engineering to resolve design discrepancies or information gaps impacting site execution.

Construction Support
• Assist construction teams with technical clarifications for piping and valve installation, welding, testing, flushing, and reinstatement.
• Review construction documentation: ITPs, WPS/PQRs, erection plans, and test packs.
• Participate in joint inspections for piping and valves including weld/NDE checks and material conformity verification.
• Monitor proper handling, preservation, and installation of all valve types (manual, actuated, control, and cryogenic).

Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning Assistance
• Support preparation and review of pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures: hydrotest, pneumatic tests, cleaning, drying, and leak testing.
• Verify test pack completeness, punch list closure, and discipline walkdowns.
• Follow progress of as-built mark-ups, mechanical completion dossiers, and ICAPS inputs.
Interface & Coordination
• Interface with Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, QA/QC, and Commissioning teams on piping and valve topics.

• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to report discipline issues, flag constructability concerns, and support practical solutions.
• Liaise with Contractor engineering teams and vendors to clarify technical points and follow up on pending actions.

HSE & Quality
• Apply and promote Project HSE requirements across all piping and valve activities.
• Support quality control activities: welding inspections, NDE follow-up, valve testing, and discipline documentation verification.

 

Qualifications

Education
• Engineering degree in Mechanical, Piping, Petroleum, or equivalent field.
• NDT certification or proven inspection experience (welding, NDE, hydrotest).
• Familiarity with GS/CR/GM referential is a strong advantage.

Experience
• 10+ years of experience in piping and valve engineering on major oil & gas projects, including LNG.

• Mandatory: LNG project experience (greenfield or brownfield).
• Strong background in piping design, layout, materials, valves, stress and vibration analysis, fabrication, welding, testing, FAT, and construction methods.
• Experience with cryogenic valves and large-bore valve systems.
• Proficiency with engineering deliverables: P&IDs, isometrics, 3D models, and site construction workflows.

Languages
• English: fluent written and spoken — mandatory.
• Portuguese or French: beneficial for local interface.

Duration: 1 year renewable contract
