The Kaminho Project developed by TotalEnergies E&P Angola, aims at producing close to 400 Mboe of 2P resources located deep offshore in Angola Block 20/11, a new petroleum province (Kwanza basin). The project budget, sanctioned by COMEX in May 2024 is 10 G$ (CAPEX 6 G$, OPEX 4 G$, 100%). The 4-year project execution is spread worldwide in several engineering centers, workshops, fabrication yards and up to the installation and start-up in Angola. The First Oil is due by mid-2028.

Context and environment

  • The Kaminho Project Group is a multi-disciplinary structure dedicated to the delivery of the project. Embedded in the TotalEnergies E&P Angola organization, it complies with headquarter processes in terms of methodology and governance.
  • The project is operated by TotalEnergies E&P Angola (40%) though a Joint Venture with Petronas (40%) and Sonangol E&P (20%) under the terms of a Production Sharing Contract signed with the Angolan Concessionaire (ANPG)
  •  The position is based in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (5 days/week) during preparatory phases, with possible missions abroad. During Installation Campaigns/operational phases, and depending on Project needs, rotations up to 6 weeks onshore/offshore in Angola (7 days/week) could be planned.

Job Description

Accountabilities

  • The job holder is accountable for respecting HSE rules and requirements and for ensuring their application within his scope of responsibility.
  • The job holder is also accountable for demonstrating, individually, an exemplary behavior with regards to HSE rules & requirements.
  • The job holder shall bring assistance and work closely in good spirit with the SURF OPS Leader and the SURF Technical Leader.
  • The job holder shall ensure that all deliverables associated to all installation / operational activities included in the SURF package Scope of Work meet project schedule, technical requirements and contractual obligations
  • The job holder shall ensure that all installation engineering and operation deliverables are timely issued and fit for purpose. The job holder shall also liaise with Interface leader and ensure that engineering interfaces with other concerned packages are dully dealt with and managed.
  • The job holder shall ensure the readiness of all the technical documentation (analyses / procedures and manual). He shall apply and promote a lean approach in particular for document review to reach an acceptable level of quality.
  • The job holder shall assist the SURF Leaders and Package Manager to prepare reporting, internal or external presentation, specific workshops.
  • The Job holder is responsible for the installation engineering activities for Kaminho SURF package. The main tasks of the job holder are:
    • Review all installation engineering documents from SURF CONTRACTOR and be technical referent for all related topics
    • Interface as required with other packages (SURF, FPSO, FOPS) specialists to ensure smooth project execution.

Support onshore/offshore installation activities based on project requirements

Activities

HSE:

  • To promote safety culture within the project and his/her activities. Lead by example to have the team members and colleagues adhering and contributing.
  • To ensure that safe and ethic working practices are carried out within the activities that he/she is managing or interfacing with. To guarantee the compliance on his/her activities.
  • To comply with the HSE training required for his position
  • To adopt and to demonstrate an exemplary behavior regarding Company Ethics and “Code of Conduct” policy and HSE rules and regulations

Installation engineering activities:

  • To review/ validate in detail all necessary installation engineering documents from CONTRACTORS and/or on the design & operability of Installation included in the SURF package Scope of Work.
  • To assist in the evaluation of risk associated to innovative installation solutions included in the SURF package Scope of Work
  • To follow/supervise installation engineering activities ensuring that they are carried out in a good workmanship in accordance with project requirements, Company procedures, strict compliance to HSE regulations and QA/QC policy within the agreed schedule
  • To ensure the readiness of the documentation by timely reviewing / validating the documentation issued by Contractors (HSE, operation and technical documentation), in compliance with Project Specifications and Procedures, TotalEnergies General Specifications, Discipline requirements and international norms and standards, in compliance with the schedule and with the aim to optimize costs without impacting the required level of Quality and Safety.
  • To raise consequently necessary comments and highlight unsafe design, deviations, unacceptable / unjustified design choices, operational issues...
  • To participate in project reviews as requested by TotalEnergies’ referential (HAZOP, HAZID, PRs...).
  • To support the SURF OPS Leader, SURF Technical Leader and SURF Package Manager for:
    • Anticipation and resolution of any technical problems,
    • Showing awareness for possible technical optimization & improvement
    • Estimation/monitoring of the schedule associated to the activities under his/her responsibility
  • To follow/approve testing activities (FAT, EFAT, SIT, etc) performed by Contractor(s) from an Engineering point of view
  • To review/approve specifications of the Contractor’s proposed vessels according to Company’s requirements including response plans and risk identification.
  • To follow/supervise, when necessary, at construction yards or logistics bases the load-out and seafastening operations
  • To follow/supervise offshore installation activities ensuring that they are carried out in a good workmanship in accordance with project requirements, Company procedures, strict compliance to HSE regulations and QA/QC policy within the agreed schedule.
  • To provide assistance in the preparation of SIMOPS or COMOPS dossiers.
  • Liaise with the other Package teams of the project in matters related to engineering and manage or ensure an adequate management of installation engineering-related interfaces, in close liaison with SURF Interface Engineer.
  • To organize, lead or participate in all necessary meetings with Contractors (weekly progress meeting, monthly status meetings, technical meetings ...).
  • To provide technical assistance to the CPY representatives who are o/b CTR offshore installation vessels or on onshore yard for load-out, such as review and validation of Management of Change.
  • To liaise with the other Package teams of the project in matters related to subsea tie-in and remote intervention engineering and manage or ensure an adequate management of installation engineering-related interfaces, in close liaison with SURF Interface Engineer
  • To gather ‘lessons learnt’ and provide feedback to other TotalEnergies E&P entities as required
  • To provide REX along project execution
  • To provide Close out report

Reporting:

  • To keep the SURF OPS Leader, the SURF Technical Leader and all parties (as required) informed regarding ongoing activities status in particular on HSE related actions/decisions.
  • To assist the SURF OPS Leader, the SURF Technical Leader and SURF Package Manager in reporting, progress monitoring, and answering to queries relevant to installation activities being part of SURF package scope of work

Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience required

  • Professional Experience (years): min 15 years in the Oil and Gas Industry
  • Experience in similar position (years): more than 10 years in similar role (Deep Water environment project)
  • Proven offshore installation experience
  • Level / Diploma: Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Valid BOSIET certification
  • Languages: English oral and written mandatory, Oral French advantageous 
  • Good communication and negotiations with Contractors and Suppliers are required with frequent participation to technical workshops and committees.
  • Knowledge of GS referential
  • Angolan Work Permit will be required for the current position
