Our client is a fast-growing food manufacturing company operating in Nigeria, specialized in biscuit and snack production.
The company runs a large industrial site located in Sagamu, Ogun State, supplying the Nigerian market with high-volume, high-quality biscuit products such as cheese balls and cereal bars.

The production site consists of three major industrial buildings (250 m x 50 m each), housing eight biscuit production lines, each with a capacity of 30 tons.
The company is currently strengthening its engineering and technical leadership to support operational performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.

We are urgently looking for an experienced Head of Engineering with a strong background in biscuit manufacturing to lead the engineering function of the Sagamu factory.
The position is based in Lagos / Sagamu area for a minimum duration of 12 months.

The Head of Engineering will be responsible for taking over and structuring the engineering activities of the site, ensuring equipment reliability, production efficiency, and compliance with safety and quality standards

 

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the engineering and maintenance operations of the biscuit manufacturing plant

• Lead, organize, and supervise a multicultural technical team composed of:

  • 4 Indian technicians

  • 15 Nigerian technicians

• Ensure optimal availability and performance of the 8 production lines (biscuit and snack lines)

• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all equipment and utilities

• Support production teams in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues

• Manage engineering improvements, upgrades, and minor CAPEX projects

• Ensure compliance with HSE standards, food safety requirements, and company procedures

• Develop local team competencies through coaching and on-the-job training

• Coordinate with production, quality, and management teams to improve overall plant efficiency

• Report on engineering KPIs, downtime, maintenance costs, and improvement actions

• Proven experience as Head of Engineering / Engineering Manager in a biscuit or bakery manufacturing environment

• Strong knowledge of biscuit production lines, including ovens, mixers, forming, cooling, and packaging equipment

• Solid experience managing large-scale industrial plants

• Strong leadership skills with experience managing multicultural technical teams

• Hands-on, pragmatic, and solution-oriented mindset

• Ability to work in an emerging-market industrial environment

• Excellent organizational and communication skills

• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
