Job Description
The Electrical Specialist Engineer's main function is to ensure the safe and stable operation and maintenance of power systems in the Waste to Energy business line. Key responsibilities include:
- Provide technical expertise on electrical systems and power generation equipment, including high voltage maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Plan and oversee maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Analyse electrical data to optimise system performance and energy efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems and implement upgrades.
- Manage documentation, including maintenance procedures, schematics, and records.
- Provide technical training and mentorship to junior staff and operators.
- Ensure optimal performance and maintenance of the diverse generator fleet, including GE steam turbo-generators, emergency diesel generator, Triveni steam turbo-generator, and MWM CHP generators.
- Participate in project planning and contribute to energy management strategies.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Electrical Engineering degree with at least 5+ years of experience in high voltage power systems
- Demonstrated experience in high voltage system maintenance, equipment operation, and troubleshooting, including strong knowledge of circuit breakers, transformers, generators, and switchgear
- Hands-on experience performing high voltage switching, wearing arc-flash suits, and executing isolation procedures
- Proficiency in analysing single line diagrams and electrical schematics
- Strong communication skills with fluency in English
- Proven leadership abilities and experience coaching technical teams
- Solid understanding of power station operation and safety protocols
- Experience in providing after-hours technical support for power systems fault investigation and restoration
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completed apprenticeship in addition to engineering degree
- 10+ years of experience in the field
- Experience with complex control and protection schemes
