Job Description

The Royalty Analyst will play a key technical role in the administration of various financial/accounting systems and business processes focused around our monthly financial close and client distribution/participation accounting cycles. He/She will own certain finance/IT functions, ensuring execution and continued alignment with the overall Finance department’s responsibilities, requirements and goals.

Qualifications

• Manage/track reporting from digital and physical sales partners, audit results, resolve discrepancies, organize files for sales pre-processing
• Coordinate with AR accountant on collections/payment logistics
• Rationalize, prepare and maintain multiple spreadsheet/data schedules across multiple sources for ingestion into accounting and sales/participation processing systems
• Handle both i) upload templates and ii) system UI integration processes dealing with metadata/database maintenance for monthly sales/client participation processing cycles
• Coordinate preparation stages for systemic generation of monthly client sales reporting and accounting statement packages
• Record journal entries as part of month-end financial close
• Generate g/l account / trial balance analysis
• Analyze monthly/quarterly/annual financial data
• Coordinate ingestion of monthly sales analytics to i) internal BI tools and ii) client facing dashboards, iterate and validate results
• Prepare recurring and ad-hoc analysis schedules for financial close and other internal and external reporting/presentation requirements
• Handle invoice/cost review/approval workflow

Additional Information

  • 1-3 years’ experience in a finance and accounting role with a degree in finance/accounting
  • Extremely detail oriented, excellent planning and execution skills with a proven ability to establish and meet impactful goals and objectives.
  • Proficiency with the MS-Office Suite, particularly, intermediate Excel skills (e.g. Nested Functions, V-Lookups, Pivot tables, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deal with tight deadlines
  • Previous experience with participations/royalty accounting, month-end close, revenue & expense analysis, financial analysis, internal reporting, financial planning & analysis, GAAP accounting is a plus
  • Understanding of typical ERP accounting systems and BI/Analytics, prior experience with Dynamics GP, QlikView, Amazon Web Services as well as proprietary sales & royalty/participation accounting systems is desirable
  • Ability to work independently
  • Familiarity with the entertainment and/or music industry desired but not required
