Senior Accountant  
Job Type: Full-time

Share responsibility for the timely and accurate generation of monthly financial statements and to manage the daily accounting activities ensuring that proper accounting and recording of company transactions are performed. Collect costing data, Analyze, Report, Plan, and Execute corrective action.

  • Operations managers
  • Accounting/Finance staff of all levels
  • Outside contacts may include banking personnel, vendors & Customers
     

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans study and collect data to determine costs of business activity, such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor and analyze the impact of those costs on the operational entity.
  • Prepare and maintain trail balances.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and analysis.
  • Oversee daily posting of journals for A/P, A/R, AJE
  • Analyzes data obtained and records results. Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.
  • Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Assists with monitoring and correcting manufacturing work orders, so they can be properly closed.
  • Provide expected cost profiles to use for existing or new customers to the organization.
  • May require availability outside of normal business hours.
  • Supervise the month-end close process and adhere to month end deadlines
  • Prepare and/or review journal entries for accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and/or review bank reconciliations monthly. Work with appropriate personnel to research and resolve issues or discrepancies.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts with particular focus on inventory, fixed assets, and debt. Identify any issues with reconciliations and work with appropriate personnel to resolve.
  • Ensure all journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end schedules are kept in audit-ready condition and actively support year-end audit of financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets.
  • Ad hoc reporting as necessary.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.  Self-starter
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of company personnel
  • Advanced Excel with strong report presentation skills
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamic accounting system or similar ERP system

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CMA/CPA preferred

EXPERIENCE/OTHER:

  • 2 – 5  years of experience in manufacturing accounting
