Job Description

Role Purpose:
The Ada big data engineer plays a pivotal role the delivery of this AI/ML platform. In this role, you will design, develop, test and maintain the data layer of Ada. You will work with a team of data scientists to define the data architecture, and software developers and docker engineer to build the infrastructure and the solution.

Principle Accountabilities:
 Develop and maintain data pipelines, with a focus on writing scalable, clean, and fault-tolerant code to handle disparate data sources
 Collaborate with other engineers to help implement and design Ada’s data layer
 Work closely with our data scientist team to gather data requirements to support modelling
 Help drive optimization, testing and tooling to improve data quality across the product line

Qualifications

Minimum Education, Experience, & Specialized Knowledge Required:

2 years’ experience in a similar role
 Proficiency in one of the following Java, Scala, Python or a similar programming language
 Experience with Hadoop and related technologies (Hive, Pig, Spark, Presto, Impala)
 Strong SQL experience (MySQL, Redshift/Postgres)
 Experience with AWS data tools, i.e. especially EMR, Redshift, Data Pipeline
 Comfort with source control (GitHub) and working in a Linux environment
 Experience with handling and processing large data sets in a business environment
 Understanding of structured and unstructured data design/modeling
 Experience using software engineering best practices in programming, testing, version control, agile development, etc
 Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
 Experience with cloud deployment and modern devOps required
 Experience with Machine learning/Deep learning platform a plus
 Experience with graph databases a plus
 Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
