Job Description

We are looking to recruit an Associate who will join our startup support team in supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs in our incubation programmes. The team serves as the prime interface for entrepreneurs and is responsible for managing the research, operations, planning, marketing and development of CcHUB’s Startup support Office.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Project Management
    • Support the Programme Manager in designing and implementing high-quality startup support programmes in line with the unit’s strategy. 
    • Support the programme manager to ensure alignment between the different stakeholders of  our startup programmes including startups, industry experts and facilitators through clear and consistent communication.
    • Coordinate delivery activities for all assigned startup unit programmes/meetups. 
    • Interface with other units in the organisation (Finance, Communications, Design) to deliver quality support for our programmes. 
    • Support the programme manager in sourcing, application evaluation, due diligence and selection committee briefing to aid selection of startups into our programmes.
    • Support the programme manager in discovering market opportunities for Edtech solutions through understanding trends in the learning market, understanding the offerings and gaps of the existing education system in Kenya.
  • Startup Portfolio Support 
    • Work with startups in our portfolio to support them with building, testing and acquiring users/customers and increasing revenue.
    • Write monthly reports on progress and achieved milestones of startups. 
    • Manage applications to our different programmes, as well as communication with applicants. 
    • Conduct check-ins with startups being supported by the unit to understand their challenges and needs and connect them to relevant resources. 
    • Assist the portfolio companies with strategies for building product roadmaps and creating product designs.
  • Community & Partnership Engagement 
    • Conduct industry/sector research to identify key stakeholders, opportunities, partners, and industry experts for our programmes, especially those with capabilities in building and scaling EdTech innovations
    • Actively support and work with the Community Engagement Officer  to disseminate engaging and impactful content highlighting CcHUB & iHUB startup programmes and beneficiary success stories (e.g. programme highlights, interviews, community member spotlights,  thought leadership content, etc.)
    • Curate a framework that ensures teachers are provided training, technology support, and instructional coaching to enable a strong implementation of the Edtech solutions.
  • Communication
    • Ensure startups are complying with programme regulations through clear and consistent communication. 
    • Create content specific to the work of your unit and the startups being supported, for sharing on social media. 
    • Manage all communication between startups and the startup support unit about programmes, relevant events and opportunities. 

Qualifications

  • An educational background in Technology and/or business-related field.
  • Minimum of 2+ years experience in project management (preferably in the startup space) or experience working with startups
  • Entrepreneurial experience or experience supporting startups or working in a startup environment.
  • Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills in English
  • Proven ability to work creatively, organized and analytically in a high-paced problem-solving environment.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality outputs in your work at all times
  • Understanding of the technology and startup ecosystem.
  • Ability to work well in a team as well as handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proven track record to run a successful Edtech project from inception is an added advantage.
  • Ability to build & manage relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft suite
  • Ability to use different technology applications to execute work (Google Drive Suite, Trello, Slack, Calendly, Notion, Typeform etc)
