Job Description
- Troubleshoots and repairs alternating current electrical systems on generators, automatic transfer switches, generator controls and engine related mechanical failures.
- Maintains inventory of spare parts and initiates procurement of replacement supplies and equipment as necessary; makes cost and material estimates.
- maintains activity logs and completes work orders and reports as needed.
- Carry out the verification of the technical data sheets provided by the Suppliers, ensure that they comply with the Group's specifications and report the conclusion.
- Perform generator inspection with supply chain representative for local suppliers during datasheet approval process.
- Inspect all new DG purchased against Group specifications and report any discrepancy.
- Supervise contractors engages to refurbish DG under minors and major repairs
- Develop expertise in generator component repair, processes, tooling, and testing
- Provide technical guidance, both through collaboration and consultation, to less experienced engineers to other individuals responsible for working generator repairs.
- Provide guidance for development of and improvements to existing generator maintenance, and repair processes and procedures
- Highlight lessons learned and makes repair practices / design standards changes or other appropriate changes in practices to prevent reoccurrence
- Perform site visit if remote assistance ends up unsuccessful.
- Prepare and submit reports to the Manager, Power Projects.
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Manager, Power Projects
- Prepare training modules on the maintenance and upkeep of generators
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/ Electronic/Mechanical Engineering or any related discipline.
- +2-4 years’ relevant experience in the telecoms industry.
