Job Description

Role purpose:

Set strategic and operational direction for the Rollout function, driving operational excellence in identification and acquisition of sites, roll-out of key infrastructure (new sites and upgrades) across asset lifecycle, and completion of order fulfilments based on agreed timelines.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
• Support the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) in formulating the overall Technical strategy and
leading execution at the departmental (Rollout) level in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs), budget (Opex/Capex), and quality standards.
• Initiate strategies that continuously improve network uptime and availability while reducing penalty exposures. Ensure all issues impacting sustainable uptime are addressed at any point in time.
• Own quality improvement of the network by leading teams responsible for systematically reducing repetitive and trending network outage root causes.
• Lead roll out of key infrastructure (new sites and upgrades) across asset lifecycle by
ensuring effective and efficient implementation of processes and procedures for identifying and acquiring sites and completing order fulfilments within agreed timelines, budget and quality standards.
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers at head-office level to accurately
express customer demand and manage expectations across the Rollout function.
• Support and collaborate with peers across Technical on projects and activities aimed at achieving overall cross-functional and regional objectives.
• Drive innovation across Rollout with a focus on work methods, techniques, and processes for improvement.
• Ensure quality of data shared is accurate and optimal to facilitate better decision-making internally and client discussions externally.
• Support resolution and management of landlord issues at head office level.
• Apply cross-disciplinary perspectives from Supply Chain, Legal, and Community Relations in evaluation of
• Understand how cross-functional perspectives/ inputs from Supply Chain, Legal, and
Community Relations affect execution of Rollout’s plan and communicate implications to peers across Technical whose regions and/ or projects may be impacted.
• Oversee consolidation of reporting templates to enable and sustain a holistic view of the Rollout function.
• Promote knowledge sharing with other teams across Technical.
• Develop and implement measures to boost efficiency and optimize costs across Rollout.
• Ensure all audit issues within Rollout are cleared by accountable team-members.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Chief Technical Officer (CTO).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering or related discipline.
• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline and/ or MBA will be an asset.
• +18 years’ experience in telecoms infrastructure deployment and project management, with most recent 5 years in a senior leadership role.
