Job Description
The Senior Cloud Engineer is a key technical member of Rhapsody’s global Cloud Operations team, responsible for the stability, reliability, and operational excellence of our AWS-hosted platforms. This role combines deep technical troubleshooting, cloud infrastructure engineering, deployment support, and customer‑facing collaboration. The Senior Cloud Engineer will work closely with engineering, support, SRE, and global operations teams to ensure high availability, rapid incident response, and continuous improvement across Rhapsody’s cloud services. This position requires strong hands‑on AWS expertise, a proactive mindset, and the ability to operate effectively in a distributed, 24/7 cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, operate, and maintain AWS-based infrastructure supporting Rhapsody’s SaaS products (RaaS, CaaS, Envoy, Identity, etc.).
- Implement infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform, AWS CLI, and automation frameworks.
- Build and optimize VPCs, networking configurations, routing, security groups, and VPN tunnels (including 3rd‑party appliances like Sophos).
- Design and contribute to scalable, resilient architectures for cloud environments.
- Lead deep-dive troubleshooting for cloud infrastructure, application connectivity, VPN issues, identity services, and AWS resource failures.
- Support high-severity incidents, drive rapid mitigation, and provide actionable root cause insights.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3-5 years in Cloud Engineering, SRE, DevOps, or Cloud Operations roles.
- Strong hands-on AWS experience: EC2, VPC, IAM, Route53, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, networking, VPN, and security configurations.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts: DNS, routing, IPsec tunnels, firewalls, packet tracing, NAT, load balancers.
- Proficiency with Terraform, AWS CLI, scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell), and automation workflows.
- Experience supporting production environments in a 24/7 or follow‑the‑sun model.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, cloud, network, VPN, identity, and application layers.
- Excellent communication skills for global team and customer interaction.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare cloud platform
- Exposure to incident response frameworks, SIEM tools (Rapid7, Datadog, Coralogix SentinelOne), and SOC workflows.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, or containerized services.
- Experience mentoring or leading junior engineers.
- Prior experience in offshore/onshore support environments (IGT1 or similar).
Shift & On‑Call Expectations
- Role participates in a shift schedule aligned to US/UK/APAC coverage as assigned by the Sri Lanka IT & Operations Manager.
- Inclusion in a rotational on-call roster for P1/P2 incidents and critical alerts
- Flexibility to adjust shifts temporarily to meet business or maintenance needs.
Education
- Relevant Educational Qualification in Computer and/or IT-related field preferred
- Demonstrated experience can be substituted for a degree
- AWS certification, such as AWS Associate Architect or higher, preferred
