DevOps/SR engineers are the ones that ensure what we develop at IFS R&D can also run effectively in production and at the same time responsible for the availability and reliability of platform services and applications, ensuring they meet the requirements of internal and external users.

A DevOps/SR Engineer will take the lead in designing, developing, and maintaining monitoring and logging solution to ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of platform services and applications. A DevOps/SR Engineer at IFS uses their technical know-how to support the entire IFS organization and customers by recommending best monitoring/logging practices and performance-optimizing techniques. They are also responsible for running load testing of IFS applications and preparing the sizing guide for major IFS releases.

Duties and Accountabilities

• Develop and maintain monitoring and logging solution for IFS remote deployments
• Recommending best monitoring/logging practices for IFS development teams
• Performance testing, tuning, sizing, and benchmarking of IFS cloud/ remote deployments and platform and Microservices
• Identify opportunities to automate monitoring, logging, and alerting on cloud/remote deployment/Kubernetes platforms
• Create documentation, presentation, and training material
• Engage with relevant stakeholders
• Share knowledge, guide, and train colleagues
• Contribute to activities related to market research and competitive analysis

Required competence  

• A University degree, or equivalent professional qualifications, in software/system engineering or IT operations
• 3+ years of experience around most of the below skills – ideally in an agile environment
• Knowledge in Cloud platforms (eg: Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Solid experience with Linux and fundamentals of Networking
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge in ELK stack / EFK stack
• Knowledge in Kube-Prometheus
• Experience in working in a DevSecOps or SRE culture
• Experience with performance testing using LoadRunner or JMeter
• Source code management skills - Git/Bitbucket
• A natural desire to discover and learn new technologies and processes
• Ability to prioritize and work as a team and independently
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Work with a geographically dispersed team to ensure continuity of support and expertise

Desirable competence  

• Observability experience in automated monitoring, logging, and alerting on cloud/Kubernetes Platforms hosting microservices
• A mindset to have Infrastructure As A Code (IAAC) and manage configurations through CI/CD approaches
• Experience in Performance testing, tuning, sizing, and benchmarking of Cloud and platform and containerized microservices
• Container orchestration and associated tooling (K8s, helm, terraform, etc.)
• Experience in Python, Go
• Conceptual understanding of performing automated production deployments - use Blue / Green deployment strategy or something appropriate (added benefit)
