Job Description

We are seeking a full-time User Experience Software Designer to work in the Digital Change/Design team for the HR Technology & Employee Experience organization at IBM. Portfolio submission required.
IBM Design’s mission is simple: put the user at the center of our products. If you are a passionate problem-solver, able to empathize with users and turn that empathy into design insights, we want you to join us in creating design experiences. Discover and improve your skills in an agile development environment and learn to apply IBM Design Thinking in your daily work to collaborate effectively with different stakeholders across Human Resources and the broader IBM employee and manager population.

As a Software Designer specializing in User Experience, the candidate is the master of information architecture, user interaction, intuitive workflows and content prioritization. You will craft experiences that connect IBMers with our HR tools and services for delightful employee experiences. Candidate must possess experience designing user experiences through documenting user journeys, designing wireframes, low and high fidelity prototypes, user flows, information architecture and content analysis.

You will work with various teams to obtain requirements and user research and translate it into a draft of what the product will look like, how it will behave, and how it ties back to the user’s goals - typically in the form of wireframes. Your work will provide end-users with an instant connection to a product even before they start using it. You will also have demonstrated abilities to use analytical techniques and your own judgment to prioritize design work and communicate those results to other members of the design team. Your findings yield insights that can be used to determine what people need from their tools, the exact points where users are abandoning solutions, and even help uncover the next big innovation. The candidate must be a self-starter, creative in their thinking about design issues, have a basic knowledge of Design Thinking principles in order to work with other designers, developers and end users, possess strong communication and documentation skills and be able to work with a wide variety of people (designers, information developers, developers, product owners, etc.) - both face-to-face and via conference calls.
