Job Description

Arcadis is growing!  Arcadis is seeking a Construction Field Representative to join our  Education Architecture group in the Houston, Texas office.  This role sits within the Global Architecture & Urbanism Division which combines the expertise of IBI’s Buildings and Placemaking practice, our Places’ capabilities, and CRTKL’s multi-sector design leadership to offer a diverse range of solutions focusing on human-centric design, sustainability, and technology. The successful candidate will review construction documents and communicate effectively with the project team. The role involves independent scheduling, frequent communication with supervisors and stakeholders, and verifying General Contractor adherence to contractual obligations. 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Navigate through construction documents for a project to acquire answers and locate possible future issues. Willingness to inform Architect of answers required.
  • Performing document reviews during the construction document phase, if requested.
  • Understand and execute the Owner/Architect contract agreement.
  • Independently schedule their day without interaction with supervisor.
  • Frequently communicate with supervisor and project team (Client, Architect, Engineers/Consultants, and the contractor) and professionally represent Arcadis at Client, Contractor and/or Arcadis functions.
  • Coordinate Arcadis and Client consultants as needed.
  • Lead trade start-up meetings and ensure required consultants are present at the meeting.
  • Stay informed of the project’s daily activities and weekly schedules.
  • Review all items prior to cover to ensure contract compliance
    • This includes structural concrete, exterior wall cavities, interior wall framing, and above-ceiling reviews.
      • Additionally, coordinating the responsible consultants for all cover reviews.
  • Review the General Contractor’s pay application monthly to ensure the percentages required align with the project's actual progress.
  • Reviews the General Contractor punch list, making any necessary additions in conjunction with the consultants, then coordinate approval
  • Answer field-related questions from the General Contractor pertaining to the contract documents.
  • Prior to commencement and throughout the scheduled work, the field representative shall verify that the General Contractor is maintaining and keeping current record drawings at the project site that incorporate all changes made during construction, including addendums and changes issued by the Architect.
  • The field representative will not be responsible for construction means, methods, techniques, sequences or procedures, contractor compliance with safety programs or procedures associated with the General Contractor’s execution of the scheduled work as outlined in the General Conditions for the project.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

This person must be able to work outside of normal business hours to attend early morning meetings and concrete pours. Additionally, they must be willing and able to climb ladders and/or scaffolding, as well as be able to be on one’s feet for extended periods of time (hours).

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 7+ years in the construction industry
  • Experience reading and understanding construction documents
  • General computer knowledge to complete administrative tasks

    The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000/year.
