Job Description

Arcadis is seeking a technologist with 2+ years experience to join our active transportation team. The focus of our team is providing leading-edge planning and design services to support the delivery of active transportation infrastructure, plans and policies.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, demonstrate excellent communication skills, be eager to learn and indicate an interest to work in a fast-paced consulting environment. You will play an important role in the delivery of designs for active transportation through various stages of design development including functional, conceptual, preliminary and detailed design.

As a technologist in our growing Mobility Advisory team, typical projects and tasks will include preparing preliminary and detailed design concepts for protected bike lanes, cycle tracks, trails corridors and intersections, complete streets projects and traffic calming studies. You will assist in the preparation of feasibility studies, preliminary design, engineering specifications, and contract / tender documents. Additionally, completing utility circulations and coordinating with utility agencies as well as coordinating approvals with municipalities, ministries and other agencies as required. Complementary knowledge of GIS would be an asset allowing you to undertake project work related to network plans, policy updates and implementation strategies 

Role Accountabilities:

 

  • Delivering high quality on all technical deliverables.
  • Carefully checking and reviewing your own work to ensure quality
  • Using professional judgment to identify and resolve technical problems. 
  • Collaborating closely with peers to meet submission timelines
  • Practicing good communication and demonstrating responsiveness to managers and peers

Qualifications

  • Two or more years’ professional experience in transportation design using CAD;
  • Microstation and/or OpenRoads experience or training considered an asset;
  • A CAD-specific design Diploma or Certificate from a College or University or a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Engineering, or in a related field; 
  • Keen interest and general knowledge of transportation planning, pedestrian and cycling facilities
  • Training or work experience using ArcGIS, Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Acrobat would be considered an asset
  • Able to manage effort on multiple simultaneous projects in an environment with firm deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible and collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team, while maintaining quality work within a fast-paced environment.
