Job Description
Arcadis is growing! The Houston office is looking for an Interior Designer to join their Architecture team working on education projects! This role sits within the Global Architecture & Urbanism Division which combines the expertise of IBI’s Buildings and Placemaking practice, our Places’ capabilities, and CRTKL’s multi-sector design leadership to offer a diverse range of solutions focusing on human-centric design, sustainability, and technology. Candidates should be willing to work in a team environment, interested in learning about educational design and have a desire to learn what it takes to make interior design successful. This position will require ability to travel and work from the office and project sites.
**Please note that this team works a hybrid working model so you will be expected to spend some time working from the office and/or project sites.
Role Responsibilities:
- Put together design palettes and finish patterns on projects.
- Assists with furniture design and selection.
- Participates in meetings and can present to clients.
- Ability to manage multiple projects to deliver all phases of the project.
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of the architectural design process and how to effectively integrate interior elements and concepts with minimal supervision.
- Able to effectively review preliminary space plans and design concepts to ensure code, accessibility, and functional requirements are met.
- Ability to review shop drawings and submittals.
- Ability to produce innovative design concepts that meet the client and project needs while also respecting the project budget.
- Able to make decisions and develop solutions to technical and design problems.
- Conceptualize and describe design ideas through 3D visualization.
- Strong knowledge of finish materials, furniture, FF&E, and applicable reference standards.
- Participate in the preparation of design and construction documents to generate detailed design solutions.
- Demonstrates understanding of building codes and accessibility codes/standards.
- Able to delegate, as well as mentor/train intermediate and junior designers.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
- A professional degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or equivalent preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years experience. Educational experience preferred but not required.
- Must be able to multi-task, follow through with assignments and tasks, and work within deadlines.
- Strong organizational, time management, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and willing to learn.
- Highly collaborative and a strong team player.
- Knowledge of REVIT is required. Knowledge of Photoshop and Enscape is preferred.
