Job Description

Arcadis IBI Group's Transit Data team is hiring a Technical Project Manager to join their TRANSIT-alerts/realtime sub-team. Remote work from any location in North America will be considered.

Arcadis IBI Group's Transit Data team focuses on helping transit agencies manage their data and provide high-quality real-time information to passengers. The Transit Data practice also has a special emphasis on open data and open data standards like GTFS/GTFS-realtime.

The Transit Data team has been working closely with many agencies to plan for, design, procure, implement, maintain, and test their passenger information and transit data systems. This includes experience with King County Metro (Seattle), Sound Transit (Seattle), Community Transit (Everett), TransLink (Vancouver), RTD (Denver), MBTA (Boston), and others.

A Little About Our Products:

The Transit Data team provides the following software systems to transit agencies:

  • TRANSIT-alerts: manage and disseminate a region's or agency’s service alerts (delays, cancellations, etc.)
  • TRANSIT-realtime: manage and disseminate a region’s or agency’s real-time prediction and vehicle location data
  • TRANSIT-data-tools: manage and edit a region’s or agency’s GTFS data
  • TRANSIT-routing: OpenTripPlanner-based system for planning multi-modal trips

Most of the things you'll work on:

  • Immediately (typically starting within 0-6 months):
    • Setup, configure, and manage TRANSIT-alerts/-realtime systems:
      • Configure systems to meet client’s preferences
      • Perform manual QA and/or write scripts to automate QA procedures
      • Identify root cause of bugs and propose bug fixes
      • Create and revise internal and customer documentation
      • Periodic scheduled after-hours support and occasional emergency after-hours support
    • Track project progress and provide updates to internal and external project teams
    • Communicate with clients, and act as liaison between clients and the product/development teams
    • Contribute to proposals, demos, and other business development efforts
  • Eventually (typically starting after 3-6 months):
    • Act as primary point of contact for client agencies
    • Translate client needs into functional requirements
    • Help manage development and release process for new software features
    • Develop project budgets and schedules

Qualifications

You'll need to have:

  • At least two years of experience with transit data, software, planning, or engineering projects
  • Familiarity with and/or interest in public transit, including transit data
  • Experience with project management, software product management, or other similar experience
  • Familiarity with software programming concepts (any language)
  • Curiosity to understand how systems work and identify/solve problems
  • Attention to detail and ability to balance priorities and multiple projects
  • Interest in developing new skills and excitement for new challenges

It’s a bonus if you also have:

  • Experience managing transit software systems
  • Experience with GTFS or GTFS-realtime data
  • Experience with databases and writing SQL scripts
  • Experience or familiarity with a programming language such as C# or JavaScript
  • Experience with AWS modules such as EC2, S3, and IAM
  • Experience with Windows Server and desktop operation
  • Experience with GitHub branching, merging, code review, and automation
  • Experience writing, executing, and troubleshooting Katalon test scripts
  • Familiarity with transit operations
