Arcadis IBI Group is seeking talented and passionate Urban Designer with 10+ years of experience for our global Placemaking Team based the Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Mountain Range. You will lead, manage, and support the design and implementation of a variety of project typologies including large scale master planning, urban design and infill, resort planning and design, transit-oriented communities (TOC), and residential development. As part of the US West Placemaking team, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary environment creating contemporary, inclusive, responsible, and sustainable public and private spaces for people. You will be involved in all project phases from master planning, public engagement, conceptual design, design development, construction documents and construction observation. Working within a variety of locations throughout the US West, this position provides opportunity for travel, business development, contract negotiations and mentoring younger team members.

Most of the things you’ll work on:

• Work with Principals, Planners and Landscape Architects to design creative, context-sensitive urban environments supporting public and private sector work.
• Internal and external collaboration with Planners, Architects and Engineers, in Salt Lake and other Arcadis IBI Group Offices.
• Prepare visually compelling graphic presentations and develop creative technical solutions
• Prepare and facilitate public engagement plans
• Assist in the preparation of planning documents, design briefs and technical reports
• Ensure project deliverables comply with regulatory standards and contract requirements
• Assist with contract administration and site inspections as necessary
• Pursuit of new work and clients through business development
• Growing the practice through mentoring and continuing education

You'll need to have: 

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an accredited institution within the field of Landscape Architecture, Urban Design or Planning
• 10+ years (post-graduation) of relevant working experience in a professional design firm or related practice
• Understanding of design excellence principles with demonstrated high quality work that elevates design
• Strong visualization skills considered an asset
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of assisting in the preparation of reports and developing design narratives under the direction of a Senior Landscape Architect or Planner
• Strong cooperative and team building skills with desire to teach others
• Knowledge of the technical aspects of the Landscape Architecture field such as planting, grading, storm water management and construction detailing is a plus
• Experience in preparation of construction documentation
• Proficiency in the latest version of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and SketchUp
• Revit, Rhino or proficiency with other BIM or modelling tools is considered an asset
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

We're located on the 1st floor of 10 Exchange Place of the Historic Exchange Place Newhouse Building on old “Whiskey Street”, the Arcadis IBI Group collaboration studio is in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City.
