Job Description

The Columbus Ohio office is hiring a Software Developer to join the Intelligence Team. The Intelligence systems teams deliver, operate and maintain complex information technology projects and push the limits of systems engineering. 

This position is a key role within IBI Group’s Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS) Program.  ATMS systems use software to monitor and control freeway traffic to reduce crashes, improve incident response times, save lives, reduce harmful environmental impacts of traffic, and improve everyday people’s quality of life.  The successful candidate will be a member IBI’s North American software engineering team helping guide the evolution of our ATMS product. This position is located in Columbus, Ohio with the opportunity for limited travel.  While work and travel restrictions are in place to assure a safe work environment during the COVID-19 pandemic, work can be accomplished from home or on-site at the employee’s discretion.  

IBI Group is working in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation providing the Ohio statewide Advanced Transportation Management System.  This position is a permanent full-time position with IBI Group.  This position is located on site at ODOT’s Columbus, Ohio, Traffic Management Center (TMC).  The position is an imbedded member of a tightly integrated cross-functional team of transportation professionals working together to apply advanced technology to improve safety and mobility for Ohio travelers. 

This position requires a high degree of initiative, a focus on client care, technical aptitude, and independence.  Unprecedented changes in vehicle technology are transforming how people travel; IBI’s ATMS Software Developers live at the center of this transformation.  
 

 Most of the things you’ll work on:

  •  Developing functional and appealing desktop and mobile-based responsive business web applications, especially responsible for front-end development using JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
  • Collaborating with end users, software developers, software architects, product owner and project manager to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain web based business application
  • Providing website maintenance and enhancements
  • Working independently to resolve technical issues (includes security issues, analytics, and bug-fixing)
  • Identifying and implementing avenues to improve safety, mobility, and sustainability of the surface transportation system using the ATMS, computer network operations, traffic data, and other technologies.
  • Providing support for ATMS users including training, responding to questions, troubleshooting problems, and other related activities.
  • Participating in ATMS design, development, documentation, and testing to further enhance the system.
  • Conducting data analytics and report development to monitor and improve operations performance.
  • Coordinating and/or conducting systems integration within the ATMS.
  • Configuring the ATMS application 
  • Troubleshooting the ATMS application 
  • Conducting planed ATMS maintenance 

Qualifications

You'll Need To Have:

  • 3 to 8 years of related experience
  • BSc degree in computer science or relevant experience
  • Proficiency with JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 and solid understanding of web markup as well as responsive development techniques
  • Experience working with CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap 
  • Understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
  • Proficient understanding of working with JavaScript TypeScript and jQuery
  • Proficiency in AngularJS is an asset
  • Knowledge of C# is an asset
  • Familiarity with software like Adobe suite, Photoshop and content management systems an asset
  • Excellent analytical and multitasking skills
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and fixes
  • Familiarity with browser testing and debugging
  • Proficiency in providing time estimation is preferred, but not a requirement
