Job Description

The IBI Group Data Services team delivers complex solutions and pushes the limits of technology. We use technology, Database Administration, Data warehouse and business intelligence tools to manage Toll System, Traffic Management, transportation corridors, transit systems, building infrastructure, energy and utilities.

IBI Group’s Toronto’s office is looking for a full-time contractor position for Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our growing team. The role involves planning, development, expansion, and protection of the database program, performance tuning, troubleshooting issues and ensuring the database supports

Most Of The Things You'll Work On: 

  • Create and maintain all the Oracle and SQLServer databases required for development, testing and production
  • Active experience in supporting Oracle, SQLServer, MySQL and PostgreSQL environments
  • Monitor the database environment, identify performance, trends and develop meaningful reporting, metrics and trending documentation to develop action plans 
  • Establish the needs of users and monitoring user access and security
  • Monitor performance and manage parameters in order to provide fast responses to front-end users
  • Responsible for managing the database environment by ensuring that storage, archiving backup and recovery procedures are functional  
  • Developing and utilizing database utilities to help the maintenance process 
  • Utilize expert understanding of schema implementation to interpret and tune queries  
  • Developing, managing, implementing and testing database upgrade, migration, etc
  • Perform the capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases 
  • Responding to and resolving database access and performance issues  
  • Basic knowledge in Data Warehouse, ETL and Business Intelligence 
  •  Writing project documentation, including design specifications, producing test plans
  • Working experience in Agile/Kanban
  • Collaborate with other software developers, software architects, product owner and project manager to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain databases required for administration, testing and production 
  • Monitor the database environment, identify performance, trends and develop meaningful reporting, metrics and trending documentation to develop action plans
  • Developing and optimizing efficient Procedures, PL/SQL code.

Qualifications

You'll Need To Have:

  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent  
  • At least 7-8 years of experience in providing Oracle Database Administration: installation/configuration, security, backup/recovery, capacity planning, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
  • 3+ years of experience in working Oracle HA solution like RAC and DRS 
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration, T-SQL, Replication, Always on availability Group DRS solution, Performance tuning
  • 3+ years of experience in working in both Linux and Window Platform
  • 1+ years of experience in Oracle and/or Microsoft Cloud Database solutions
  • Recent experience in current technologies such as Autonomous Cloud Database experience is an asset
  • 1+ years of experience in Oracle Cloud technologies is as asset
  • 2+ years of experience in Oracle PL/SQL coding
  • Knowledge and/or experience in Big Data and a strong background in data integration technologies is an asset
  • Ability to work with a team environment and willingness to learn and continuously improve

Additional Information

We are currently in a work from home model during COVID-19, but when we do return to the office we're located at 55 St. Clair Ave West, this office is steps away from St. Clair station and is easily accessible by bike, TTC and car. Occupying 7 floors, with over 700 employees, it is the largest office at IBI Group. The floors are open concept and represent our collaborative approach to projects.
