Job Description

Here’s how we work:

The Ottawa office is hiring a Senior Architect to join the General Architecture Studio.  The Architectural group has been involved in numerous high profile projects such as the Algonquin Student Common, Visitor Welcome Centre and the McGill University Health Centre.  

Most of the things you’ll work on:

  • Work under the direction of a project Director and coordinate with a large project delivery team;     consisting of the client, other architects/designers and a full range of sub-consultants;
  • Prepare and/or assist with design projects and construction documents;
  • Review and be familiar with multiple projects under development;
  • Lead Project Meetings, be familiar with the progress of the Work and advise the Director as to conformance with the Design and Construction Documents;
  • Coordinate with the design team to process and respond to RFI’s and Submittals from the  Contractor;
  • Coordinate with the Architects and Designers to issue sketches and supplemental instructions,  as required;    
  • Assist with business development.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Take a lead position on large projects;
  • Prepare construction documents with larger team;
  • Prepares, corrects and updates documents during schematic design and design development phases;  
  • Coordinates and reviews the work of junior staff members (who may be in office in another city) on assigned projects;
  • Does creative design development on assigned portion of the design program;
  • Develops solutions to technical and design problems following established standards;
  • • Meet with Clients / User Groups;

Qualifications

You'll need to have:

  • 5+ years of architectural and/or construction related experience;
  • Personality/ability to meet conformance with construction documents;
  • Architectural License;
  • Proficiency in Revit highly recommended;
  • LEED Associate a plus; but not required;
  • Energetic / team player
  • Familiarity with P3 an asset
  • Bilingual English / French is an asset

Office description:

The Ottawa office has a group of 20 plus employees in Architecture, Land Development, Municipal Engineering, Landscape Architecture and more.  It is located at 333 Preston Street, Suite 400 in downtown Ottawa.
