Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS) solutions are at the heart of tremendous technical change in intelligent transportation solutions. Emerging technologies including connected/autonomous vehicles, access to unprecedented datasets and analytics, and the role of private industry (vehicle OEMs, Waze, Apple, HERE) in mobility are redefining how people travel. The ATMS is the nexus that will turn these independent advancements into a system of mobility. 

IBI Group is working with a client in the Wisconsin area to maintain, operate and enhance the new Advanced Transportation Management System 

(ATMS) in Milwaukee. As a part of this project, IBI Group is seeking a highly talented ITS Systems Analyst who enjoys working with systems and solutions and will thrive in an independent environment. Reporting to the Solutions and Systems Manager within our Intelligence Sector, the successful candidate will be a key member of the solutions team with a focus on intelligent transportation systems (ITS), network operations and traffic data. With the latest deployment of the ATMS in the United States, you will be assisting the solutions team augment the ATMS to take advantage of evolving technologies to bring improvements and efficiencies to our traffic management system clients. This person will provide on-site support to ATMS users, and function as a key point of contact with IBI’s client.  This position requires a high degree of initiative, a focus on client care, technical aptitude, and independence.  Are you up for the challenge?

Most of the things you'll work on:

  • Responsible for providing TMS staff support with the ATMS application, field queries on the ATMS application from various stakeholders and users, lead and manage technical meetings, and support project management. 
  • Designing and implementing of strategic response plans using the ATMS.
  • Leading and participating in ATMS design, development, documentation, testing and/or user training to further enhance the system.
  • Identifying and implementing avenues to improve safety, mobility, and sustainability of the surface transportation system through the use of the ATMS and other technologies.
  • Data analytics and report development to monitor and improve operations performance.
  • Coordinating technical aspects of Systems Integration and Management within the ATMS.
  • Understanding of operations of ramp meter system, DMS, HAR, traffic detector devices, and third-party traffic data.
  • Maintaining close communication and coordination with the Project Manager, other Traffic Operations Managers, ITS Engineers/Technicians and other counterparts within IBI Group offices in Michigan and Ohio.
  • Ensuring full staff coverage of TMC support operations as per of our client contract.
  • Be available to be on-call in case of emergencies.
  • Supporting new business Initiatives from Wisconsin.

Qualifications

You'll need to have:

  • 3+ years of related ITS and ATMS experience. In addition, ITS experience in a control room environment will be a bonus. 
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited University in Engineering with a focus on Transportation and Transit.
  • Strong understanding of Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general ITS and traffic operations principles, including traffic incident management.
  • Membership with a US based ITS and/or Transportation Association is preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership and relationship building.
  • Ability and willingness to work alternate work schedules.
  • Skilled in report writing, technical writing, management team presentations, spreadsheet analysis, and interoffice communication.
  • Ability to coordinate real time activities and initiate immediate priorities, for self and support staff.
  • Familiarity with the software development process.
  • Experience working with/ providing user-support of computer hardware and software system.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Interest in leveraging data and technology to advance operations and providing customers with better information for planning their journey.
  • Ability to travel to other IBI Group offices, both in Canada and USA.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
