Job Description

Here's how we work:

IBI Group’s award winning Brighton office is searching for an Architectural Technician or Technologist to join the team. IBI Group employs c250 architects across the UK and 2,500 globally - our Studio in central Brighton is keen to engage with high calibre architectural talent that will enjoy the support of a successful organisation and work alongside experienced colleagues.

Our Brighton Studio consists of architects and interior designers working predominantly within the Health, Education and Science sectors. The project values typically range from between £1m to £50m, both locally, nationally and internationally which enables us to provide a broad experience of project work. We typically take projects through all the RIBA work stages, from inception to completion. We actively support an individual’s career progression and act as RIBA Mentors for students at the University of Brighton.

 

Most of the things you’ll work on:

    • Provide technical support, including timely production of accurate design and technical information using Revit software, ensuring consistent and accurate use of agreed BIM standards, management of specifications, drawing packages and technical detailing.
    • Assist in the activities of the architectural team producing drawings / illustrations / documentation as instructed by the project architect using Autodesk Revit and Bentley Microstation
    • Quality monitoring and coordination of drawing information with regular programme reviews, use and knowledge of office standards, day to day management of project administration, awareness of health & safety and building legislation requirements
    • Ensure, with other members of the team, that the project is effectively administered and managed
    • Assist with site surveys when required
    • Assist in filing, copying drawings, collating information as necessary to assist the project team
    • Attend client meetings as required.
    • Attend design team meetings as required and gain an understanding of the consultant’s input and the co-ordination required to finalise the design.
    • Take notes to record any meeting that is attended.
    • Delivering accurate information / drawings in a timely manner as per agreed programme
    • Learn office based software systems and construction detailing / specification writing as required
    • Understand and adhere to procedures including quality management, environmental management systems and health & safety
    • Under the supervision of a more senior colleague, prepare production information including drawings and documents for tender packages, design detail development and construction drawings
    • Effective time and resources management
    • Supporting studio management team with input to programming, resourcing and financial reviews and business development activities. Input to bid submissions, interview presentations and design reviews, CPD and practice-wide standards development

    Qualifications

    You'll need to have:

      • Recognised architectural technology qualification / degree
      • Revit experience essential with evidence of good quality output, good technical knowledge of building detailing and construction.
      • Healthcare/Education/Science experience preferable, though not essential.
      • Ability to work within a team and displays good communication skills
      • Familiarity with NBS Building specification programme
      • Good attention to detail
      • Ability to work to a programme and meet deadlines
      • Ability to provide technical support across a range of projects at different workstages.
      • Ability to review information and query anomalies.
      • Efficient and accurate individual with problem solving skills
      • Ability to co-ordinate detailed packages of work with other consultants
      • Ability to review detailed information and query anomalies
      • Good organisational skills
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills
