Job Description
Here’s how we work:
Most of the things you’ll work on:
- Preparation and coordination of: Planning reports and various planning applications in support of development proposals for private and public sector clients, including providing support to other project teams and managing applications from proposal stage to final approval.
- Reviewing planning applications and providing professional advice, including planning reports, for municipal clients.
- Lead Public Engagement processes and events
- Preparation of municipal planning documents (Area Structure Plans, Area Redevelopment Plans, Neighbourhood Structure Plans, zoning bylaws, etc.).
- Design leadership for land planning and development projects (technical design, subdivision, lotting plans, master plans, neighbourhood plans, etc.)
- Establish, maintain and enhance positive client relationships.
- Assist and provide oversight to technical planning staff
- Lead meetings and presentations as required
- Work with senior staff on new client development
- Participate in the preparation of proposals and other related business development activities
Qualifications
You'll need to have:
- Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline
- 4 to 10 years of relevant experience in land use planning, with particular experience in municipal land planning (either public or private)
- Membership or Eligibility for membership in APPI/CIP
- Strong computer skills in MS Office, MS Project, Adobe, etc. – proficiency in CAD, Sketch-up or similar is an asset
- Urban Design skills would be an asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills
- Strong report writing skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Analytical thinker, creative problem solver, able to think outside the box
- Self-motivated, flexible, enthusiastic team player committed to delivering high quality results
