Job Description

The IMS Powerplant Planner is responsible for the coordination and management of powerplant planning activities across the airline group, focusing on optimising engine utilisation and minimising maintenance costs. This role requires a strong understanding of airline powerplant operations, maintenance planning, and end-of-lease (EOL) strategies. The Analyst will leverage their expertise to provide data-driven recommendations that enhance group-wide powerplant efficiency and drive significant cost savings. A key responsibility will be contributing to the development and implementation of an in-house end of lease optimisation tool.

Responsibilities:

Group Powerplant Planning Coordination:

  • Support and encourage standardised powerplant planning processes and procedures across the airline group.
  • Coordinate and consolidate powerplant maintenance plans from individual operating airlines within the group.
  • Identify potential conflicts and optimise engine deployment across the group.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between powerplant maintenance teams across the group.

Powerplant Usage Optimisation:

  • Analyse powerplant performance data to identify opportunities for improved engine utilisation and cost reduction.
  • Develop and maintain models to forecast powerplant maintenance requirements and optimise engine life cycles.
  • Provide recommendations for engine swapping, pooling, and other strategies to maximise engine efficiency and minimise downtime.
  • Drive optimised LLP management across the group.

End-of-Lease (EOL) Planning:

  • Develop and implement Group EOL planning strategies for leased powerplants, ensuring compliance with lease agreements and minimising return costs.
  • Manage the return of leased powerplants, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
  • In-house EOL Tool Development (OptiEng):
    • Participate in the development and implementation of an in-house end-of-lease optimisation tool (OptiEng).
    • Provide subject matter expertise to the development team, ensuring the tool meets the needs of the Group powerplant planning departments.
    • Assist in the testing and validation of the tool.
    • Assist in the implementation and training of the tool to the relevant personnel.

Cost Optimisation and Analysis:

  • Analyse powerplant maintenance costs across the group, identifying areas for improvement and cost reduction.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to powerplant maintenance and utilisation.
  • Provide recommendations for optimising maintenance schedules, parts procurement, and repair strategies.
  • Provide detailed reports on powerplant maintenance costs and performance to senior management.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, aviation management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in airline powerplant planning and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of airline powerplant operations, maintenance planning, and EOL strategies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft engine lease agreements.
  • Experience in LLP management.
  • Experience with software implementation.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with powerplant maintenance planning software and systems.
  • Knowledge of aviation regulatory requirements (e.g., EASA, FAA).
  • Experience in a multi-airline or group environment.
  • Experience working with engine OEMs.
  • Experience in software development projects.
