Job Description

As a Product Designer within Hangar 51's Rapid Development Team, you'll be playing a crucial role in delivering groundbreaking products in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.  

We have an ambitious target to deliver 12 products in 12 months, to elevate customer and operational experience through innovative solutions, and this is a pivotal role in achieving that ambition. 

You will be working within the innovation team to select ideas, and take the leading role in expanding and designing them to create fresh, ground-breaking ideas for IAG.

The role is extremely customer focussed and will be collaborating with OpCo colleagues across the group, enterprise wide to identify opportunities, run ideation sessions, and design user-centric product innovations,

In the Rapid Development team we foster a product start-up mindset, encouraging exploration of ideas, acceptance of risk, and readiness to learn from experiments and tests to develop brilliant and innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Ideation:

  • Design, create lead ideation sessions using various idea generation techniques to generate high volume of innovative ideas.
  • Expand and enhance ideas using product design techniques to maximise the potential value.
  • Engage with users and stakeholders to understand their needs, pain points, and aspirations, using various techniques such as interviews, surveys, and observation.

Solution Design and Delivery

  • Create actionable design artefacts,  customer journeys, wireframes, paper prototypes, as best suited to the problem and needs of the team.
  • Work hand in hand with development team through the delivery process to adjust and refine based on developer feedback on technical feasibility.

Customer Testing:

  • Run customer testing sessions, focus groups, and workshops to gather feedback and validate concepts, ensuring alignment with user expectations and business goals.
  • Shape and enhance ideas through iterative design processes, incorporating feedback and iteration to refine solutions.

Engagement with business teams:

  • Serve as a liaison between the Hangar 51 team and OpCo teams in local geography (UK, EI or ESP), understanding their unique challenges and ideate innovations.
  • Foster strong relationships and communication channels with stakeholders to drive alignment and collaboration in a rapid, fast-changing environment.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the OpCo innovation teams in implementing innovations from the H51 team.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in product design and innovation.
  • Drive continuous improvement by sharing knowledge, providing mentorship, and fostering a culture of innovation within the team and the organization.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, UX/UI, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in product design, UX/UI design, or interaction design, preferably in aviation.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of design thinking principles and methodologies, with experience in running ideation sessions and design workshops.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with user research methods, usability testing, and prototyping tools.
  • Passion for innovation and a creative mindset, with a drive to explore new ideas and push the boundaries of design.
