Job Description

A Digital Business Manager is needed within the OCIDO to lead a small team to manage budgets, allocate resources efficiently and ensure that initiatives are aligned with the overall financial goals of BA Digital.

Purpose of the role:

You will contribute to the BA Digital’s financial health, operational efficiency, and successful execution of IT initiatives by:

  • Developing and managing the IT budget, working closely with BA Digital leadership and finance teams to ensure alignment with overall goals.
  • Collaborating with leaders across BA Digital functions to understand the financial implications of proposed initiatives and provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Allocate resources effectively to support initiatives and operational activities ensuring adequate staffing.
  • Identifying and implementing cost management strategies to control and reduce IT expenses while maintaining service quality.

Accountabilities

Working in partnership with BA Digital, and the business to:

  • Lead a team of analysts to manage Financial Operations, Capital Expenditure, and IT Resources across BA Digital in line with organisational goals set by BA Digital and the business.
  • Develop, monitor, and analyse budget performance, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Optimise resource allocation and utilisation across BA Digital including personnel, hardware, and software, to support business objectives accounting for headcount, skills, and knowledge requirements.
  • Provide insight to long-term IT strategies by using financial modelling techniques to forecast future IT expenditure and resource needs.
  • Develop and maintain OKR & key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of IT resource utilization and financial performance, generating regular reports for management, highlighting trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive and oversee cost reduction opportunities across the BA Digital directorate, reporting monthly on risk and opportunities into BA Transoformation Office and Finance leadership.
  • Establish and enforce financial governance policies and procedures across BA Digital ensuring compliance with financial regulations, internal policies, and industry standard.
  • Support and champion BA Digital on the journey to Cloud, managing the introduction to FinOps, leading analysis, driving optimization opportunities whilst being the ambassador for good FinOps practices.
  • Introduction of demand and capacity planning to ensure the right mix of resource and capabilities are understood and in place to meet the demand required to enable a Better BA.
  • Responsible for achieving the balance of recruitment and retention of talent to deliver the BA Digital Strategy, whilst managing priorities within given constraints
  • Responsible for continuous improvement on ways of working, driving teams towards a more agile mindset and product led organisation.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Degree in relevant field such as finance, accounting, business administration, or a related discipline is preferred
  • Relevant certifications in finance, project management, or IT governance (e.g. CMA, PMP, COBIT).

  • Ability to convey complex technical and financial information to various stakeholders. including preparing reports and presenting findings to senior management
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to identify and address financial challenges in IT operations.
  • Ability to set priorities and guide others towards the accomplishment of strategic business goals and objectives
  •  Ability to work under pressure
  • Fluent written and spoken English

Experience

  • Previous experience in financial management or ePMO roles, particularly within an IT context which might include financial analyst, IT budget analyst, IT asset management or related positions.
  • Demonstrated success in overseeing a finance team, including experience in managing analysts, minimally within the context of a small team.
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets alongside resource allocation and optimisation. 
  • Familiarity with IT operations and infrastructure.
  • Experience of introducing FinOps, Cloud accounting and agile/product frameworks
  • Familiarity with IT delivery, operations and cyber
